Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Was he supposed to ignore the sound of a challenge? Sure, it had not been directed at him personally and, in fact, it had a certain timbre that mentioned loners... but, did they really expect him to ignore it? It sounded like excitement. In fact, the moment he had heard it, he had been unable to think about much more as he loped through the free lands at the base of his mountain home. He had stuck tightly to the river for some time, investigating the going ons in the lowlands. That howl, though? It had been something else. He hadn't heard one quite like it before, and he had certainly heard his fair share of challenges in the last season. In fact, it had been one of his reasons for having departed the stronghold that was Spirane for the day. His aunt had been marched off to battle and so, he had taken it upon himself to start finding somebody to train him so that she'd need not do it again. Or, maybe he hoped somebody would train him just so he could take the fight. His mother had been an option, sure, but what hero had been trained by their mother? Or their father, for that matter?

Nonetheless, he had been quick to change his path of action and instead of the river, he had strayed far east towards Diveen and Glorall. The call had been issued from the fields and yet, he had some issues following it at first. Despite his determination, he was still young. That could not be helped. If he had been with his sister, he might have asked her to send her companion onward to find them.... but, would he have? What if she had told their father? Or their mother? Or even any wolf of Spirane? He sighed at the thought. He had to summise that they wouldn't like any of it. Strangers... loners... a call like that? It's no place for somebody so young! Was that him speaking or somebody else?

He loped through the field, confident for once that his smaller size (thanks, age!) had been useful in hiding him from anybody else. Still, he moved with poise and grace, trained on the mountains with quiet strides as he slinked through the grass. In the distance, he had begun to hear voices. They sounded older, far older, and yet, he hadn't felt any air of suspicion from them. Still, he was but a kid. He had sunk low when he had heard them, onto his belly almost, as he snaked forward in an effort to overhear without being involved. They had certainly been the one's to call and so, he had to know what they were all about before making himself known, right? Unless, of course, he had been but a fool to assume somebody like, well, any of them hadn't the ability to hear an untrained child at their flanks.
