| ALiSTAIR
this is what salvation must be like after a while
The woods were peaceful. He walked alone, feeling the sensation of pine needles tickling his pawpads, and the slight spring breeze blowing past his fur. He felt that he could get lost within these woods as he often did in the towering trees of Taviora, simply by closing his eyes and walking in any direction that he chose. But Alistair was growing less and less distant, knowing that he was at Amoxtli's call for diplomatic missions.
He awaited his first solitary task with bated breath, but he knew there was a chance that it might not come all that soon. And that was okay. He was content, for once, although his sister had left the forest for the plateau- Alistair figured there must be a boy involved- he felt happy. It was a strange feeling, and it had no real source, beyond perhaps the fact that his life served some sort of purpose now.
He would be an adult in just another year, and the thought of that was a bit frightening. Was he expected to take a mate? He certainly hadn't found someone special yet, and he doubted- doubted anyone would want to be with a wolf like him. It was truly a struggle, rising above his deafness, but every day he was getting better and better at following conversations and at speaking. It was hard, when things got rough in his head, not to simply close his eyes and disassociate from the world. But he knew that was childish and foolish. And if he were truly to be an adult, he would need to stop those pursuits.
