I noted the change in the male’s demeanor the second he laid his eyes upon me. Once proudly towering above me, he now lowered his body to my level. I stare at him with puzzled blue eyes, cocking my dial to one side. The difference in his character was a welcome transformation, I felt at ease with him deflating to my degree, though he was still a large brute and I a petite thing that shrank before him. Once puzzled eyes now flare with curiosity as I stare into his burnt orange ones. My fear has fled me for once, nowhere to be seen. A blanket of security seems to wash over me with his presence near, and it seems all is right in the world at this moment. I couldn’t explain it, it wasn’t a strong sensation but it seemed to radiate from him and I could feel it in the air.

I watch his gaze flicker between me and his kin, unknowing of what thoughts are transpiring in his dome. My eyes dart to Solstice a moment before he gives her an encouraging nudge in my direction. Auds perk up and a pleasant smile spreads across my lips at his approval, a bushy mahogany dipped tail happily wags behind me as the girl gives an excited yap and lumbers towards me. As she pounces, her miniature paws playfully smack at my face and I sluggishly bite at the air where her mitts had once been. It had been so long since I’d had last played with a pup I had almost forgotten how much joy it brought.

Solstice tugs at me, beckoning me to give chase. I am about to playfully lunge at her when my name is whispered by the golden male. I turn my dial towards him, his tone is soft and one of amity, and his plea for a pardon takes me slightly by surprise.

"You have done no wrong, why do you ask for forgiveness?"

He settles even lower to the ground now, Solstice still playfully tugging at me but at the moment I am occupied with Samhain. Another wolf had never acted so passive with me and I was uncertain on what to do. I cock my raised head at him before a confused voice emits from my black lips,

"No one has ever submitted themselves to me, so why do you..?"
