The delicate moment in which the golden child rests his paw upon Taika, the newest of his friends, seems to last only a moment before the dark and silver blur of Nevermore comes tearing towards them, thrusting herself against him and placing her head under his chin the way pack often did in a manner of affection. Well. Most pack. His Father had never been particularly good at it and yet Pan was an odd creature all the same, one Rhett had taken after rather strongly really though there would be time later to consider the implication of genetics. A consideration his childish mind would indeed undertake at some point. After all. The very blood the flowed in the veins of the girl he had come to see was a bane of great contention for many and a source of intrigue to himself- at least to an extent. His own tail waves in a moment of pleasure, earthen limbs carrying him closer to the girl, his own understanding of personal space perhaps a little limited as well, else the boy is merely confident in the extreme as he greets her. Why shouldn’t he be? He had travelled here all on his own, begun to forge his own path and surely that is a reason to stand tall. Besides, he knows something of Asteraia and if he is fulfil his goals he cannot cower, not now and not ever.
“Yes, Yes, Pretty Eyes, I’ve come- you can call me Rhett if you want though.”
It was a little more masculine then Pretty Eyes he is sure, even if he finds the compliment fitting, his emerald gaze turning to look at Taika now, content to offer some introduction as manners dictate before the whispered words of Nevermore find him once more, his own eyes narrowing now. What they said of Asteraia was true then- at least to some extent, his future mate seemed to want to eat Taika. They would have to put a stop to that. He scowls slightly, head shaking a moment before his features shift into a grin most glorious once more as Taika’s teeth bare and Rhett simply laughs with a clear good natured humour, one paw reaching out to bat Nevermore on the nose in a seemingly playful gesture and yet one aimed entirely to distract her attention away from the older female.
“Bye Taika!”
He calls after her, body dipping into a play bow of sorts as he faces Nevermore once more, as if seeking to engage her in a game, a playful growl rising within his throat as one paw flails towards her again and his larger, golden and earthen form dances sideways until Taika is gone and out of sight. Rhett abruptly straightening once more as he seats himself suddenly, green eyes turned upon Never again.
“You can’t say things like that, at least, no out loud. When your hunting prey, do you yell and make noise and let it know your coming? I’ve seen the adults do it and none of them make noise. If you want to hunt, no matter what or who you hunt- you have to be smart about it. I’ll help you, don’t worry. You see what I mean though don’t you? If you tell the prey you are going to hunt it then it knows. You have to be sneaky and clever.”
His eyes narrow slightly as if this is some true conspiracy, as if her apparent desire to feed on the flesh of her own kind is of no concern to himself, that he simply accepts it for what it is. Though he is assured he can do better, that he can help her be better all the same, perhaps curb her energy in the right direction from the beginning. He grins again once more, his form so light compared to the dark of her own, the very sun and night itself as they sit and she asks why he has come.
“I came to see you. I came to live here. I have left the mountain and my brother is here too, do you know him? Galileo? He speaks highly of the fields so I decided I would live here too. Do you object?”
