During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

The male was not sure how to feel about all that had happened recently. He loved his pack and those that were in it, but it did not feel like home as it once had. When he had first come to Bright Moon it had been fairly active with vargs, though not as active as the pack he had been born into. The wolves within were a unique type of family. They were there for each other, but they were not in each other’s business. They all did their own thing and were independent, but whenever the alpha called they all joined to show their continued support. After time the brute ended up as alpha, and he could not have been more proud of the vargs that he was left in charge of. He got to know as many of the wolves within as he could, and it really felt like a family to him. As time went on the wolves within came and went, some staying for a while and some merely coming to visit before moving on. The longer that Summer remained alpha, the more that he noticed that there were less and less wolves in the pack. It made him sad to see so few wolves in the pack, but at the same time he would never be upset with one of them leaving for any reason. He understood that they all had different priorities and things to do in their lives, and he was just happy to be able to offer a home to any that would need it. As he thought on his old pack, one wolf in particular came to mind. His friend Misty had always been there, and he knew that he would miss her the most.

What the brute had not foreseen occurring was leaving his pack. For a long time Bright Moon had been his home, and he never thought he would leave it. But he no longer had just himself to think of, now he had taken on the role of a father to his niece, Nzingha. He needed to make sure that she was raised in as safe place, and he never thought that Bright Moon would become an unsafe place. He had been proven wrong however when a family of bears came into his territory. At first it had just been one bear, and if Bright Moon had been at its previous full strength they would have been able to handle the situation. But Summer, Danger, and Aimery had been the only adult vargs to show up on the scene. He still remembered he panic that he had felt when he saw Nzingha’s much smaller form come to the scene as well, but he had been fighting the bear at the time. Aimery had been Bright Moon’s newest member, but he sadly had been killed when a second bear had shown up. Cubs had been seen in the background as well, and with only two adults able to fight, Summer knew it was hopeless if he wanted them leave with their lives. He knew that some may be too proud to leave their pack and would rather die defending it, but he could not think of leaving Nzingha alone, or having something happen to her. He also did not want Danger to endanger his life as well. And so he had told Danger to leave with him, and had fled with Nzingha, hoping that the other male would follow them. When they were safely away from the bears, he called to any others that may be in the pack, hoping that some of his other packmates would safely leave with them.

Summer and Nzignha had made sure to stay together, still close to Bright Moon, but not too close to be in danger. He had hoped that others would find them, but the longer he waited the more that his hope left. The male grew sad and depressed, thinking about the pack that he had been forced to leave and the friends that he would not see anymore. He could not come to terms with it at first, and had clung to his old home longer than was necessary. Nzingha continued to grow while they stayed in a limbo state, not yet having a new place to call home. She was no longer a pup and grew taller and longer as her body continued to grow. Most teens went through an awkward phase where their limbs grew too quickly and they became more lanky and clumsy. But that did not seem to happen with his adopted daughter. Instead she grew into her body, not going through that awkward looking phase. It was one day when Summer woke up and realized that the femme was growing up away from others, not learning what it means to be in a pack and a family, and he knew that he was not doing the right thing for her. Guilt washed over him as he realized what he had done because of his own sadness. He had made her stay in solitude with him, and that was not fair to her. Really Summer was lucky to have her help him out of his slump. Without her to motivate him to move on, he very well could end up stuck in his depression, but he needed to move on for Nzingha’s sake.

So the pair set out for their next destination, Munashii Gekko. Summer had always enjoyed the company of others, but he had never considered himself someone that needed constant attention and to always be around others, so he thought a smaller pack would suite them well. Munashii Gekko was under new reign and the pack seemed to be starting back up, so he thought it would a perfect time to join their ranks. He was glad that Nzingha had agreed with the choice, not wanting to try to boss her around even if he was her father figure. His other hope was that Danger would join them as well. He had been the only varg to leave Bright Moon with them, and he would appreciate having another friend. The pair went on in silence, heading to the new pack. They were not too far away from the borders and they reached them fairly quickly. He was surprised that the female teen went ahead and let out a call for the new Alphess, but he smiled at her, glad to see her growing up and being bold. Summer decided to sit down upon the earth, letting his thick smoky grey plume wrap around his paws as they waited.

After a short amount of time the duo saw the tall stilted form of a kalak approaching. He thought it interesting that the maned wolf was here and not at Cold Summers, but it would be fun to get to know another breed of lupine. Summer rose to his paws, shaking out his pelt as he did so. The other male approached them, plume held neutrally but his head was high. Summer gave the stranger a smile as he spoke, “I am Horizon, Zeta of Munashii Gekko. Please state your titles and business with our pack.” Before Summer had a chance to answer, they were joined by another, this one a femme. The all white female nodded a greeting to her packmate as she introduced herself. "I'm Artemis, sister of Ameira although not blood related. I'm unranked, but I figured why not stop by to say hi? I don't really know anyone here so . . ." Summer could already tell that this pack was more active than Bright Moon, and he could only hope that Nzingha would like living here. ”It is nice to meet you both, Horizon and Artemis.” The male nodded to each in turn with a greeting. ”My name is Summer, and this is my niece, adopted daughter really, Nzingha. We come from Bright Moon, as the pack lands were no longer safe to live in. I used to rule there, but knew it was better for myself and the other wolves within the pack to find a safe home to live in. Which is what has brought us here today.” The brute was not ashamed of what had happened, the circumstances were out of his control and the only thing that he could hope for was for life to get better from here. His yellow orbs looked to the two vargs across the border, waiting to see what they thought.
