Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Lost in her day dream, Isolde did not hear him come. The sun was hot and most animals were staying in the cool shade so she didn’t think about finding any other animals on her way to the sea. It wasn’t until he was nearly behind her that she cocked her ears back at the sound of fast approaching paws. Legs stopped as she turned around to see what was following her, not accustomed to being hunted and had no fear of running right away. Bright eyes widen in sudden fear as the large form is suddenly behind her, mouth agape, fangs glistening in the sunlight, eyes wild with fury. For a moment, time seemed to stop as he stood there, ready to attack and she unable to comprehend what was happening. Their eyes meet and it’s like the connection between their souls rekindles. Isolde knows who this wolf is and even though she knows she should be afraid of him, she can’t bring herself to run.

With a blink, time resumes again. As he regains himself before her, closing his mouth and snarling wildly, she retreats slightly and moves her tail from his fangs to stand before him face to face. It was true that the russet girl was not the smallest of her siblings, but even she felt like a pup standing next to the brute before her. He was massive and his colors stood out like no other wolf she had seen. Perhaps she might even consider him to be attractive, if not for the aggressiveness he was showing her now. Voice like ice and thunder, he demanded to know what she did to him. Confused, she glared at him, also raising her lips to expose white teeth. “You accuse me of doing something to you after you tried to bite me!? Who do you think you are?”

This was not how it was supposed to be! He was to be her knight, her protector, a friend to call when she needed. And yet he stood here, seething at her for something that was beyond her control. Standing her ground, she took a deep breath and felt her hackles lower back down. Covering her teeth, she sighed and kept her voice even. The situation was only going to get more heated and she wasn’t sure if her imprint could control himself enough to not try and attack her again. “What exactly are you accusing me of? I haven’t seen you in weeks not since…” It suddenly made sense. This wolf must not know what it meant to imprint. Suddenly, she looked upon him with sad eyes. To never be told what was in store for him when he became of age.
“Look, let’s start over. I’m Isolde and I am your imprint. I’m sorry if this must come as a shock to you but I didn’t do this to you. It was as much of a surprise to me at it was to you. Whether you like it or not, we’re bound together.”
