Her journey was far from over. The once princess had managed to make her way from the mountain pack to the ocean pack. Each time she noted the good and the bad of each land, watched the wolves who called it home, and tracked potential prey. Each pack had its strengths and weaknesses and Isolde was considering each one for her new home. It was her goal to travel to each one and see what they could offer her and her old home was no exception. But it wasn’t going to be easy, which was probably the reason why her paws felt so heavy the closer she got. There had been stories of what had become of her beloved Asteraia after Jaidah had conquered it, gruesome tales of blood and famine and plague. The young girl didn’t know if any of it was true, but it had prevented her from returning. Until now.
The closer she got, the more her heart pounded in her chest. Memories of days long gone came and went as she walked. But still, she held her head tall and walked calmly and with the grace of a princess. Finally, at long last, she had come to the boarders. Before her, looking the same as it always had been, was her homeland. Multi-hued eyes gazed around in awe at the beauty that was the endless plains. A lump formed in her throat that she found difficult to swallow and before she knew it, she was sobbing by herself.
It took her several moments to compose herself again. When she felt she was ready, Isolde lifted her russet muzzle and called out to the pack. She wanted to see what had become of her home. She wanted to meet this mysterious alpha who had defended Asteraia time and time again against Jaidah. When her song had ended, the girl stood at the borders doing everything she could to stop her eager paws from darting into the pack and exploring the land her parents had once ruled.
