aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Sebring watched Tarly with a calm, content gaze. She had not felt so at peace in Aurora since she had first Kalgalath. Even though Tarly provided her with nothing more than his company and the pleasure of being able to talk to him, she needed nothing else. Had he not wanted to walk with her she wouldn’t have pushed the subject. She would have remained content to sit and talk. Neither of them knew each other very well, but over time she hoped to know Tarly somewhat like a son. He was still young enough to fall into that category and the Queen, in her own way felt a motherly connection to the child. But Sebring also felt connected through a common fear. A fear of everything, though hers consisted mostly of anything related to fire or water. Two complete opposites and yet both had almost taken her life and each time someone had come to her rescue though only one lived to tell the story. Sebring’s internal happiness faltered, a small shadow hung over her conscious. As much as she tried to rid herself of her past, she would never forget the last scream of her mother. She would never forget the berating screams of her father or the, now invisible claw marks that littered her bodice. The pain of each one still clear as day, but she was moving towards a new light. A new life.

Sebring pulled herself back to the present her radiant smile and warm honeys watching Tarly. He too rose up and stretched downwards, mimicking her motions. He words warmed her heart and she could not help but smile wider. She had not had a wolf compliment her company, she was happy to know that other wolves enjoyed her company. The queen was comfortable around pups and young teens. They were still young, still learning, sometimes blunt, but always truthful. Tarly’s small phrase made the ashen Queen’s day. To know that she made another happy made her happier in turn and all the more willing and open. Trust had to start somewhere and she was starting to build that bond with Tarly, and she hoped he felt the same way. The small strip of onyx that rounded across his crown nodded up and down and she turned towards the outer ring of the clearing. The sound of soft footfalls alerting the Queen to Tarly’s following, he had needed no other encouraging. Even as they reached the brambles, Tarly only paused for a few seconds. Sebring offered a smaller smile of encouragement, You can do it Tarly. The lad seemed to take heart and passed through, his little figure disappeared into the dark patch, blending right in. Sebring followed the boy through and pushed her crown through the undergrowth breaking through, her honey pools scanning the sylvan horizon before sweeping to Tarly. Awaiting his reply, he seemed utterly surprised by her question but answered all the same. Um… Right. Sebring dipped her crown and turned to the right her paws stepping a slight bit more burdened than usual. She not mentioned the fact that she was pregnant to Tarly, it had completely escaped her thoughts whilst she talked with him.

S…so what’s your favorite part about living here? Sebring raised a brow, surprised to hear Tarly taking charge of the conversation. This going better than she had expected! She turned her warm gaze to the boy, Getting to know the wolves I call my family, like you Tarly. She responded softly. Her gaze returned to the path which they blazing, Aurora is nothing but land without wolves like yourself, Magic, or Hellene and Khaleesi, or Kalgalath and I to make it a home. But I do enjoy going and sitting on the bank of the lakeside border and watching the sunsets. What about yourself young man? Sebring looked at Tarly from the corners of her eyes. She was genuinely interested in knowing what the lad liked, not just for the fact that she was his Alpha and that she ought to know what it was that made her subjects happy. She wanted to know them individually, she wanted to know who they were, what they liked, who they loved. She wanted to be more than an Alpha. She wanted to be a friend, a sister, and a mother to the wolves of Aurora. That would never change and filling her role as Alphess would help shape who she was. Just as Kalgalath’s graciousness had given her life and his love had given her pups, she was shaped by the wolves around her, from her experiences and from the paths she chose to take. This is how Sebring had slowly began to undertake her leadership role and how she continued to do so.

Sun gazers looked through the undergrowth, noting the distinct land marks that were popping up. Though Tarly may not have seen them, the thinning undergrowth meant they were heading towards the lakeside border. Tarly had unintentionally picked the way towards the lake, maybe they would be able to catch the sunset before the little bruteling had to return home to Magic.
