The still young femme thought that she had learned of all the horrors that world had to offer, but she could not be more wrong. She had tried immersing herself in the art of healing to distract her from the wrongs she had done at the borders of Aurora. Though the incident with the intruders was long ago, and most had gotten over it or had forgotten about it, she had not. It was the first time that Khaleesi had seen death in front of her and it was the first time that she had taken a life. She knew it was for a good cause, but it was not something that she had relished in as some did. It sickened her to think that some enjoyed causing such pain and suffering and she knew that she was lucky to be in a pack like Aurora where the wolves were good and kind. But, what she thought would be an innocent and peaceful healing lesson, turned into another day that would become a nightmare. Vita, one of Chenzii’s adopted kin, had come to join them. Khaleesi was glad to see others interested, and she was more than happy to help teach her some of the skills she had already learned and mastered under Hellene’s watchful eyes. But as she was teaching the similar colored femme about moss and poppy, they were joined by an unwelcome visitor. A snake, black and menacing, made its way into the clearly. The snow white femme had seen them before, and normally they did not bother wolves, knowing that the bigger mammals were predators themselves and could pose a threat. But Vita had, for some reason, approached it, growling a warning. Instead of retreating back into the bushes, the snake had lunged out, its fangs hitting their mark on Vita’s innocently white chest. With a cry she pulled away, and Khaleesi leapt forward, pulling the snake off her and killing it in the process. Green orbs looked to the femme with concern, but for now she seemed okay, other than a little blood tainting her pelt. Khaleesi relaxed, until the venom began to work its way into Vita’s blood stream.
The images of Vita’s smaller form writhing on the ground in agony, crying and screaming as the venom slowly caused her organs to shut down, making it impossible to breathe. Khaleesi had yelled out for her mother, and Hellene quickly came to her side, but when she saw the snake she said there was no antidote and there was nothing they could do. They tried to give her poppy to dull the pain, but Vita could not keep it down. After only a few minutes, she was dead at their paws. The older femme did not understand why the gods had to be so cruel and take another life, and one so young. After that day, she went back to feeling like a pup, seeking out her mother for comfort, and forcing her way back into Hellene’s den to sleep with at night and help keep the nightmares away. She knew it was silly, to be an adult and still seek her mother, but it was the only way that she could cope with the horrors that were threatening to drive her mad.
One day, as she was with Hellene relaxing, trying not to let her mind wander too much, Hellene had been called to the borders. Khaleesi did not recognize the vocals, but had decided to stay where the pair had been hanging out in the trees until she would return. Khaleesi was not in the mood to be with others, but it would soon become apparent that she would have to do just that. Not much time passed from when her mother left until she heard her demanding bark ring through the trees, calling for both Khaleesi and Sebring. She had no idea what had happened, but could only assume that it had something to do with healing if Hellene was calling her. She followed her mother’s scent back to her den, and the scene that lay before her was shocking. The sharp, coppery scent of blood overwhelmed her senses, almost making her gag, but she made sure not to react in front of her new patients. She saw two opposite colored pelts, one male the same snow white as her own, except covered in a dark, scary crimson. The other, a smaller ess, a dark color that was buried in the brute, also covered in blood and wounds. Perhaps they were lovers and he had been hurt protecting her, that was what it seemed like to her anyways.
But then her green orbs focused in on the Alphess, in a hostile stance for the first time that Khaleesi had seen. She continued to look at what was going on, eyes now noticing the large, intimidating male that was watching the duo outside Hellene’s den. Khaleesi quickly came to Sebring’s side, a snarl on her own maw as a threatening growl escaped her throat. If her alphess thought this male was a threat, then Khaleesi believed he was too, and she would help defend the pack. Sebring’s life was more valuable, not only as the leader, but as a new mother. If she were to lung at the brute, then the white femme would as well, acting as back up to try and avoid injury to her queen. If Sebring left the male alone, then she would turn her attention to the other two. Paws would step forward carefully, making sure to alert the injured vargs to her presence so as not to startle them. ”Is it alright if I look you two over? Assess your injuries? It looks like you need immediate treatment.” She waited for approval if they were conscious enough to give it, but if not she would carefully begin to nose every inch of them, assessing broken bones and open wounds while she waited for Hellene to return with instructions on what to do.
