The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

'Just try not to stray too far from Abendrot if you have to leave.' Macaria nodded her head vigorously and whimpered at the thought. How could he think that she would leave him, especially after that they had been through? She had had to heal him after the Bears - he needed her! But more than that, he had given her a new home, a pale to sleep and to stay, and had protected her. Though he had hurt her at the beginning, it had been necessary, hadn't it? She had not know anything about the ways of the world - he had taught her that, surely. And now... He had not hurt her in forever. Because she had learned! Macaria had always been a quick learner... And this time would be no different. "Of course not, master, but I will have to go far enough such that I get to other packs. I doubt many healers remain as loners base they are such a highly needed commodity in packs. I know that I am... Rather inadequate because of my incomplete knowledge, but I can learn!I swear I can, and when I return I will know more. I will go to every pack if I must in order to learn all that I can. " In truth, that prospect terrified her. It had been a long time - as she had said - since she had interacted with other wolves. But she would bear the open lands and the strangers, if only to make Grey happy.

But then she had tried to nuzzle against him after grooming him, and the reaction was immediate and the Alpha got to his feet and separated himself from her. 'What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting like this?' Flinching back from him, she turned down her orange gaze to the floor and bit back the whimper that sought to escape - he said she must try not to be so fearful, and whimpering was a sign of fear, was it not? As she stared, the ground began to spin and so she shut her lids, which only made it worse. Shaking her head slightly, she tried to clear the fuzzy feeling from her mind and made a mental note to work on the formulation of the concoction that she had started to take each day. At first, she had started with just the poppy, but just that alone made her head swim and she did not like how it made her feel. Instead, she had started to add in other things... But she knew so few plants that she often made it worse than better. Right now she had kept it to honey to ease the nausea that came each time she took the poppy, and some chamomile to calm her mile. The doses, however, was something she was still working on. Perhaps the other healers would have suggestions of some herbs to add to her regimen to calm her even more so that the fear that constantly ruled over her would fade... That would make Grey happy too!

Slowly, she lifted her head to meet his gaze and smiled, not wanting to bother him with her minuscule problems. What were her problems compared to his having to rule over an entire pack. "Nothing is wrong, Grey. Why? Does something seem wrong? I just... Well you seem lonely. You never smile. I was just trying to make you smile. I am sorry if I offended you or did something wrong, I had never... Done anything before. I will not again." Macaria sighed and moved away from him, leaning against the opposite wall before curling up to sleep. All she wanted to do was to make him happy. Why did she have so much trouble doing so?
