Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

"Dance, my little puppets,
set your soul free.
Dance, my little puppets,
dance just for me."
- verse iii, sandy nobody
Oh goodness. She didn’t stand a chance against this pup’s charms. Grimoire was buzzing with all sorts of tingly goodness at her wriggly excitement, sass, and attention. What was a wolf to do?! Thank the deities that this wasn’t her little muffin-cake. She’d be powerless against spoiling her rotten otherwise. Being able to avoid the responsibility of pups was truly a blessing; Nakki, Grimoire’s mother, had thought herself barren until she got pregnant when she was 11 years old. Grimoire was hoping she was similarly difficult to impregnate. Not that she didn’t enjoy the little puff balls… but she couldn’t pick the pup she’d get, and nature would probably give her a spoiled brat.

She was impressed with pup’s attention to her movements, and as best a puppy possibly could, she mimicked Grimoire down to the twitch of her tail. The learning process was astounding! Watching calico-pup here reminded her of the many hunts Nakki and she had. She missed her darling momma, but she could bury her grief for a while longer. Nakki was still guiding her life since Grimoire wasn’t finished working through the list of thrills and miscellaneous things Mummy Dearest had left to her.

Grimoire watched in admiration her student’s immediate response to the gesture okaying her to charge. And she nearly rolled over in hysterics when she saw the pup attempt to dive into the hole after the rabbit! Oh the high of the hunt! It messed with the brains, and did it felt good to hardly have to think. Grimoire cherished the vicious snarls that dragged out of the puppy’s throat. Ah, yes, the marks of a grand predator in the making. It cause Grimoire’s heart to sing and she hopped up and down near her pupil while she egged her on,

"Go for a rabbit’s foot! Dig, dig, dig!”

If the rabbit hole was shallow, then they would find the target, but if this was an entrance to an entire warren, then the rabbit was already long gone. Grimoire wriggled as excitedly as Pine was scratching away the earth in eager anticipation of what would occur next!
