the light layer of snow that dusted the plans before him was quite the change from spirane’s bitterly cold winters. winter had been eager on autumn’s heels this year, sweeping away the fall. the storms had been harsher, with winds and temperatures that cut to the bone, and zophiel had a feeling that this winter would not be kind to the wolves of moladion. his thoughts went to his blood, wherever they may be, and he hoped that they would be safe. winter and the death toll went hand and hand, and despite his disconnect with them, he would be sorry to see them enter the veil of death.
death was a far off thought for the boy at the moment, however. black and yellow eyes caught sight of the other wolf, from this distance just a large, dark shape, before he heard the bark of warning. as she drew nearer, zophiel’s heart began to pound and he began to regret his decision. she stopped on her side of the border, her size easily dwarfing his, and he pulled in on himself on instinct. there was a distinct air of power about her and he guessed she must be the alpha - which was a bit unnerving, if he was honest. social interactions were not his forte, and this was quite an important one.
dark ears pricked upright as the scarred woman began to speak, flinching as her words ended in a question. how was he supposed to communicate that he wished to join? he dared to creep closer, body close to the ground in an attempt to convey submission and with a harsh wheeze of air, attempted a whine. the result was as expected: a heavy exhale that lacked much noise. he repeated the process, resulting in yet another heavy exhale. zophiel hoped she would understand this attempt at explaining his silence and crept forward a little further until he was close enough to to border that she could touch him if she wanted to. without any other idea of how to go about it, zophiel rolled his shoulder to expose his throat to her and fairly prayed that she would understand.
