The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

His brother had said that Elohim was the one that cared. Cared, he supposed, about the living rather than the deceased. Of course, Elohim cared for both. It was simply that his curiosity dictated that his attention remain on those that moved rather than those that lay. It had become a complicated part of himself that he seldom understand, yet he had not made any true effort to understand. He simply existed. He simply did what satisfied him at any given time. Blessed with an inquisitive, deductive mind and yet, cursed with a morality painted in only shades of grey. Could care be considered the correct word? He often wondered but never asked.

Like the water below, his curiosity for it and she flowed together. When she moved towards him, he stiffened with anticipation, only to find that she paused above him yet. She seemed stubborn in her descent, unwilling to take to the darkness entirely. His paws shifted anxiously beneath him, his toes swirling through the dark water at his paws as he flexed. He did not understand her reluctance. He seemed to hold his breath with expectancy and anticipation, only releasing it when she finally uttered a word; with it, she had broken the tension he had built for himself. His attention immediately returned to her as he stretched his legs, leaning back and flexing his toes through the water once more.

His eyes had yet to break contact with her own. His head tilted once more though, his voice slow as he addressed her carefully. "The stranger wonders about the things below too?" With his question, his held fell onto its opposite axis, an ear flickering to emphasise his inquiry as he rose to his full height again. He held the position but for a moment before he whirled around to face into the cave once again. His tail waved, with more vigour now, as if to greet the abyss that stared back at them. "It is where all things go." He nodded then, stout and affirmative. His head whirled back, meeting her eyes briefly with another nod. Including us, it seemed to say. And then, he simply waited. She would come. If she did not, then why had she crawled down in the first place?
