News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

From high and away above, Sleekwing watched the scene unfold in the clearing below. As soon as Daenerys' call to challenge for the right to lead the mountain pack, he had moved to the rocky outcropping that he knew would offer him a view of the interaction between the two wolves. His heart fell when he saw Tithe enter the scene and immediately move to attack. A heavy sigh had escaped the elder warrior's chest. Though it was his long time duty to protect the mountainous realm, and to teach those who wished to master the art of fighting, he had hoped that perhaps this altercation would not come to blows. As long as he'd known him, Tithe had been a man of his word. But, even from the distance at which he watched, he could tell no words were spoken. No peaceable resolution would be found. He watched the fight with a heavy heart, recognizing the strength in Daenerys' attacks and realizing who the winner would be before it was over. All at once, they separated, and after a time, Tithe turned away. Sleekwing shook his head, disappointed in the male's choices. He had been an asset to the pack, and would have made a good Justiciar, or perhaps even a suitable replacement as Castellan when the time came for him to step down. But it was not to be so.

Even as Sleekwing turned away from his perch, a resolve settled over him to track down Tithe, wherever he may venture to next. He'd counted the male as a friend, and his choice to fight Daenerys did not negate that. Far too many friends had vanished from Sleekwing's life for him to let Tithe slip through his paws entirely. He would give the male time to heal, and then he would seek him out. For now, however, Sleekwing jogged back towards the den that his daughter still shared with him. Israfel had struck out on his own, more of his mother shining through in him with each month that he'd grown older. But Moonfeather remained; she'd told him of her aspirations to become a great shamaness like her namesake. The similarities between her daughter and mother never ceased to amaze the heather painted male, and as he grew older it became more his focus to see her succeed then to create his own triumphs. The time would soon come for him to step down as Castellan, but first he felt it was his duty to discover and train a suitable replacement.

With little doubt in his mind where Daenerys would announce her victory from, Sleekwing gathered his daughter - and her raven companion - and headed towards the clearing where she had hosted so many pack gatherings over the years of her initial rule. Moonfeather bounded along beside her father, and as they chatted on their way to the clearing, Sleekwing found himself in awe of the fact that she was now two years old. Where had the time gone? He had not told Moonfeather where they were going, and when the howl lifted from further down the mountain, she looked up at him with joy in her eyes. "She won, Dad! Oh, I hope she's ok. And what about Tithe? I should have brought something to help ease their pain. Daaaad, why didn't you tell me where we were going?" The thought that Tithe would leave the pack hadn't crossed her mind. Moonfeather hadn't found herself a proper mentor yet to teach her about healing, but Sleekwing had shared his limited knowledge of pain management with her, and she'd learned a few things through trial and error, and by way of intuition. Sleekwing smiled down at her. "I didn't want to ruin the surprise," he said. Glancing up at Kutcha, who swooped overhead, she thought perhaps she could send him back to retrieve something for her rather than delaying their arrival. The bird wouldn't be able to carry poppy seeds, but what about..."Kutcha, go back for the elderberries, please!" The bird croaked once at her, an almost jokingly irritated noise, before he banked and flew back towards the den.

Father and daughter entered the clearing together, and Sleekwing's gaze immediately flicked over each wolf present. The majority of those who had arrived were Daenerys' children, but another - Viekas, if he remembered correctly - had come as well. She was one who had left during Roman's inactive rule. It was a good sign - that wolves who had left were willing to come back. Subconsciously he had been hoping Malina would be among their numbers, but it was hard to say where his imprint had roamed to during her time away from Spirane. Finally his eyes settled upon Daenerys, and a welcoming smile graced his features. Moving forward with Moonfeather at his side, he dipped his head in acknowledgement of her accomplishment. "Welcome home, Daenerys," he said, before stepping back and allowing Moonfeather a moment to great her aunt.

The girl had been worried when she saw the blood that stained Daenerys' coat, but she didn't look like she was in much pain. That was good. But what was more concerning was that Tithe wasn't there. How could she help him if she didn't know where he was? As Kutcha winged into the clearing, carrying a branch covered in dark berries, her attention was refocused on the wolf she could help. Stepping forward, Kutcha landed beside her and she took the branch from him, setting it before her queen. "I know poppy seeds would be better, but Kutcha can't carry them as easily. I hope these elderberries will help a little bit until a trained healer can bring you something better." With a smile, she looked to her father, then back to Daenerys, dipping her head respectfully before they moved away together and settled a short distance off to the left. Bother father and daughter were still thinking of the wolf who had lost the fight, but their attention and focus was given to Daenerys, and whatever she might have to say to the wolves who continued to gather in celebration of her victory.
