Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice ....................................................................................................................................................................................
Vladimir was the first to arrive, his tiny body pummeling its way through the underbrush loudly, though as soon as he broke the clearing, he slowed and peered about, clearly confused and amazed by the change from forestland to meadow. Still, his goal was the same and he moved closer to his father. "Hello, Vladimir my boy. Where are -" Before he could finish his sentence, Seraphina and Castiel found their own way into the clearing, almost upon Vladimir's heels. It was a wonder that they did not tumble into him, but it seemed that they wished to allow him to win. A small smile formed over Kalgalath's face - they were wiser than Vladimir, it seemed, or at least less arrogant. But pups would be pups. When they grew older, it would be time for lessons and training, not in any one particular field but in all of them. Kalgalath wanted them to have a well rounded education, much like his own, though hopefully more extensive. Yes, his offsprings teenager years would be spent learning from the head of each career. Training, too - so that they could be dexterous, quick, and strong. And then, perhaps, most difficult, they would be taught moral lessons - a chance to fight was a chance to win... But that was not always the best choice. Words could be just as powerful as a bite, and often had better results.
Seraphina poked fun at Vladimir, and the brute barked sharply, offended until she bumped into his shoulder. He smiled shyly at her, understanding for the first time that she was not trying to be mean to him, but be amusing through the use of sarcasm. "I guess... It is just good I didn't trip when the Devils were after us because they'd of eaten us. But you did a good job too, Sera." His words, unlike hers, were meant as a compliment. Kalgalath smiled when Sera spoke to him in greeting and dipped his head. "Hello, young Princes and Princess! I am glad that you seem to be getting along... Playing a game are you now? And Sera, how are you enjoying your stay here in Aurora Borealis? I hope my boys have been more than helpful getting you settled in." He smiled at each of them and briefly lowered himself down to his body so that he could nuzzle the twins, but then stood again to greet the rest of the vargs that he knew would come.
"Yea dad we were playing Angels and Demons and of course we were Angels because Demons are stupid and mean and evil and we are good and good always wins right dad? Vladimir looked up at his father briefly before jumping backward from the rock. "When we fight them we smash them and bite them and tear them and then they die and we win to fight another day and they are never as fast as us! As the pup spoke, he jumped about, wrestling with invisible foes, and eventually his tiny form rolled over onto his back, situated between Castiel and Seraphina. Kalgalath laughed, his deep vocals echoing over the bare field. "Good should always win, but unfortunately life is not fair and thus good does not always triumph. But we strive to succeed anyway, Vlad."
Arctics swiveled up and Vladimir jumped around to see where his father was looking, and backed up slightly to lay his dorsum against the side of the bouldered throne. This would be the first time that he and Castiel would be presented to the rest of the pack, and he wanted to make a good appearance. Thus, he sat up straight as he could and put on his best serious face, which was of course oh so cute. But what Kalgalath was peering at still his smile, and once more sorrow crossed it. Chenzii approached and leapt onto the rock to briefly nuzzle against him. Chenzii and Magic had seemingly been best friends from the beginning. They were always neck and neck for rankings within Kalgalath's hierarchy, and yet they never competed against one another. Instead, they had supported each other and become very close. Magic's absence had hit her just as much as it had hit Kal, perhaps moreso. Kalgalath at long last had found his happy ending, but Chenzii's had been ripped away from her time and time again. Magic had been part of her remaining support system and now that the femme had left, it was just another hole to be left in her heart. Kal let loose a soft whimper and leaned into her touch before she pulled away and moved to his side. Before Kalgalath could say anything more to her, two more arrived, but the King did not miss the look of curiosity that had come of Vladimir as he peered at all of these strangers.
Khaleesi, it seemed, was back to her normal self which was good to see, especially after she had been so severely affected after the rogue pack's attack where she had killed another and seen many killed, including a brute who had tried to save her. She had recently been quiet and morose, and Kalgalath was glad that her bright and shiny personality had pulled through at long last. 'Hello Kalgalath, Chenzii, Vladimir!' Vladimir gasped, not sure how she knew his name, and peered up to his father, wondering if he would have an explanation. Kalgalath smiled at her and the bruteling at her side. "Hello Khaleesi, Tarly. I am glad to see both of you. How are your studies coming along, Khaleesi?" Kalgalath felt for Tarly as he felt for Chenzii - for Magic had been Tarly's mother. The pup had always been afraid, and it seemed growing up a bit had done nothing to heal him of his fear.
Hellene had approached next, offering her daughter a caress and offering Kalgalath news of Bright Moon, but then agreed to wait until everyone was present. But at hearing anything about Bright Moon, Seraphina immediately began to interrogate the Delta. Hellene smiled softly at the pup, her harsh exterior falling away as it so often did when pups were involved and nodded. "Aye, little one, Dante is going to be okay. She got some scrapes, but they will be battle scars before you know it, trophies that she will wear proudly to show her victory." She fell silent and moved back to her daughter's side, hairs touching.
Next to come to the scene was a brute that Kalgalath had met only briefly, when the titan had delivered news to him that Kal's father had died. Now, the stranger moved to Chenzii's side, greeting her first, before greeting Kalgalath with words of empathy and a bow before retreating. "Thank you for your sympathy, Jorah. I hope that I can live up to his standards in your eyes and that you enjoy your new home here." Another wolf arrived, one who Kalgalath did not recognize, entered quietly without saying anything. His brows raised and he looked around. Hellene noticed the stranger too, it seemed and addressed him. "Hello Joker! It's been a while, hasn't it? Where have you been off to?"
Kalgalath smiled, now that he knew that the wolf had already been accepted, and a while ago it seemed. "It is nice to meet you, Joker. I am Kalgalath, the Alpha of these lands. I hope you are enjoying this land." But then, finally, arrived the one wolf he had been waiting for before actually starting the meeting - his mate. She arrived and his eyes left everyone else to stare at her. She was his world, his everything. Sebring completed him as none of his previous mates had - they trusted each other and helped each other and worked together, as they shared many of the same ideologies. And now this - this was the first time she had truly left the den since the pups had been born, for she had been grooming them, or bathing them, or nursing them, or resting. The scoundrels had taken all of her attention, and her energy... But now she seemed a Queen renewed. Her pelt was freshly groomed and bathed, and she shined in the sun, its rays radiating off of her beautifully. A soft purr pulled from his throat as she neared him, kissing each of their pups before she took her rightful place next to him on the throne, nuzzling him softly and sweetly, her lyrics a whisper in his audettes that made him smile. His muzzle pressing into hers and tenderly he nipped on her ear before returning his attention to the pack as a whole, standing tall and proud before them. His smile grew as Rift entered quietly, and Kalgalath dipped his head in greeting to her before parting his lips.
"Let the pack meeting begin!"
