Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

The call was a familiar one and one she thanked the stars for; she had been desiring company of some variety, but a gentler kind than that of which Jackdaw or the strange boy from Asteraia could provide. She was sure she would never find a place for herself but perhaps, she thought, she might be able to create one for herself amongst those that were like her - without homes, without family, with pasts they did not prefer. They called themselves gypsies and yet, she had simply come to know them as a place of warmth in an otherwise bleak world. When another woman responded to the howl, Elara turned her own face to the sky to do so too; a haunting, longing howl, one unique to herself and yet, for a moment, it lingered with Dragonfly's and for once, Elara felt some kind of connection. For once, her song was not entirely alone. Perhaps it even peeked at its tail, a momentary joy in her call before she took off across the fields.

Her pace was swift, a dusty blur beneath the warm sun before she slowed to meet the other two women; she approached with a natural caution, her eyes flickering between the pair as the younger girl bounded about cheerfully. Elara grinned, a small and tentative expression but something kind nonetheless. She had never been blessed with so much energy, so much enthusiasm - she had always been beneath the shadow of the night. With the sun on her back, she often felt more displaced. But, the feeling was worth the flutter in her chest when she saw the duo, when she recognized that there really was some place out there for her. Maybe that was her problem: she always sought a place, never a somebody. It made her think of Jackdaw for a moment and yet, she swallowed the feeling and replaced it with a bow of her head and a sweeping wave of her tail.

"I, too, would love to hear any adventures the pair of you have come across," she chimed, a gentle voice amongst a wave of Dragonfly's excitement and Liquid Amber's stoic silence. She had come to the respect the white woman, a wolf who had taken on leadership when no other could. It took a lot, she knew, to carry the weight of responsibility. Without her, they would all be lost and drifting. "And, I believe we have other matters to discuss. Winter was difficult. Perhaps we ought to seek out refuge this coming winter: together, I'm sure we will have enough skills to please an alpha." She just hoped, silently, that it would not be a place where her family would find her.
