During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

. . .Dark Wings. . .Dark Words. . .

Horizon was more than gladdened to not have the King push for more information. Instead there was only a mutual silence that the bastard kalak used as a time to meander through his own thoughts as they wandered through the woods of Munashii Gekko. Though one might have thought he was contemplating these awful memories of his past, Horizon could not even touch them. The vaulted door of his mind was sealed shut. It was like his conscious worked against him. Never allowing him to come near the memories lest he try to right the wrong and move past what crimes were committed against him. Instead he was forced and held against his will to continue hating the man that was his sire with a burning vengeance, live in constant fear, and worst of all seemingly rendered incapable of love. That was how Horizon felt on most days, even the good ones. And it was all because Farant. The man who even without having to be there managed to still control every aspect of the bastard’s life, as he did everyone’s life who he’d even known or heard of. That was the type of vice grip that Farant had on his subjects. No one was who they wanted to be. No one could love who they wanted. And they’d be damned to eternal torture if they so much as said or did something out of line.

That was why his mother was dead.

And sometimes, Horizon believed he’d killed her. Farant had always said Horizon would be the death of everyone he loved. He was no more than the dirt that covered the earth and ought to be treated as such. The bastard child never deserved the position he’d gotten, he didn’t deserve the life that Farant had so benevolently bestowed upon him. He had hardly deserved to live at all, but here he was alive and as well as one could be under such circumstance as he. Meeting Ameira had been a saving grace for Horizon. She’d been kind, she listened to him, and even treated him with respect. Something he was not used to. And then after becoming Queen of Munashii Gekko she’d given him a second chance. A chance to make something of himself, better the world around him, and even finally begin to develop himself into the wolf he’d always dreamed to be. One that his mother would have been proud to call her son, because even though his mother had never said it Horizon knew that seeing him had always been a reminder of Farant. Akela, for that was his mother’s name, had always been there for Horizon. She helped him keep his sanity and his voice, because without her Horizon likely wouldn’t have even made it this far. But now without her, Horizon was finding new ways and new wolves to help him along in life like Ameira or Shasta, and now it seemed like Blood Titan was going to start playing a role in it as well. But first they had to know each other, build trust, and eventually somehow Horizon might find himself trusting this brute more than just the fact that he was his King.

What better way to do this than to share the horrors of their past in vague stories?

Horizon almost wanted to laugh at the afterthought, but he quickly silenced himself as Blood Titan began to speak of his own past, Well, I’m also not from Blossom Forest originally. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the family of wolves called Demonica… Horizon perceptibly shook his crown. If he’d been a spy or assassin then maybe, but he’d been a slave. And he rarely knew anything, but he said none of this as he continued to walk alongside Titan and listen to his story. And as the first portion of his story came to a close the Alpha scoffed, making Horizon quirk a brow in question. Sure this was more than Horizon had shared but to each their own. Whatever the information that Titan chose to share with Horizon was of his own accord and would never be Horizon’s information to share. It was a mutual and silent agreement in Horizon’s mind, that neither of them ought to use what they knew of each other, against each other. That was what Farant would have surely done, and the bastard kalak had vowed to himself to never become the man of his nightmares. He would ask for death before that.

I’m not sure why I’m getting so detailed… but there it is. I’m the son of the evil emperor Black Skull— A small, knowing smile spread over the maned wolf’s lips. He was almost half tempted to interrupt the Alpha’s story, but thought better of it. There was no need to tell the man what he probably already knew, you’re not your father. That was already self evident really, for both of the brutes. Both had come out circumstances that were beyond harsh reality and cruel mistreatment, and somehow despite it all they were both moving on or had moved on in some form or fashion in their lives. Horizon listened intently to the entirety of what Blood Titan had to say and was not surprised when the brute finally cut off, But that’s not what has made me who I am today. Not really. My ability to survive. My ability to lead. My ability to protect. My temper that sometimes is justified and sometimes not. That all stems from those roots, sure. And another day, maybe we’ll get into what other things have shaped me. Certainly some things that are more significantly a part of me today than anything from Demonica. There was no look of surprise on Horizon’s features, there was much more to any wolf than most would ever know. Secrets are security blankets and knowledge is power. Anyone who knew how to manipulate others to their will knew that, just like Farant.

Do you have any thoughts about what rank you’d like to try out for?

Horizon chuckled to himself, Well I know Zeta will certainly not be on my list. Pups are not exactly my strong suit. Horizon shrugged slightly, he had given thought to the rank he’d wanted. I think Gamma will my goal in the end, it seems to fit generally what I do on a day to day, basis border patrol wise. And there are certainly skills I could work on like acting as a liaison and recruiting other wolves. Horizon paused and looked over to Titan, not really sure what else to say, But I’m always open to whatever you think will be best for the pack, in regards to rankings.
