aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

GWAINE

“It is not boring.” The raven ess smiled warmly at Gwaine. “Fights are beginnings, or endings, of adventures. My story is much less exciting. I stumbled into Aurora years ago and befriended Kal quickly after he accepted me into the pack. No exciting fights or anything like that. Will you be living in Aurora now? Or are you just visiting?” Gwaine grinned at her. “You flatter me, Chenzii, truly. I’m sure your story is just as interesting, if not more. Even the simplest of tales always hold more to them than meets the eye. Fight or no, every story is exciting in its own way. And I do believe that I will be living here.” He looked around him, nodding. Yes, it would do quite nicely for a home. “I’m afraid you won’t be able to shake me that easily.” He winked at her.

Chenzii’s visage widened into a smile, a slight blush on her cheeks, at Gwaine’s jest of manliness. It felt good to make someone happy, even if it was only brief. His natural mischievousness and love of cracking jokes, or otherwise making somewhat of a fool of himself, were always used in good fun and for others’ amusement. The knight had lacked company for a long time and had forgotten how much he enjoyed entertaining others. The ess headed off, leading the tour of Gwaine’s new home. She moved quickly, but not too quickly, giving the warrior time to soak it all in without allowing his mind to wander. He held onto her every word. The eboness new this terra like the back of her hand and he would too. First was the lake, one of the benefits of Aurora, Chenzii explained. They headed over, following a river, and the fae lapped at the cool water briefly. Gwaine stood beside her, taking in his surroundings and studying his companion, which he hadn’t really done before. He noticed that her coat was not as shiny as most lupines, but was dull. That was never good. He frowned slightly in concern and worry, hoping she wasn’t ill. The frown was erased when she looked back up. Gwaine didn’t want it to seem like he didn’t like her because he did.

“This area is usually peaceful, unless Kal and Sebring’s pups are running around playing.” She smiled. The earthen knight chuckled at the thought. “They are little rapscallions, aren’t they.” He shook his head fondly. Chenzii headed off once more and he followed, being sure to take note of anything memorable he could use as a landmark. They stopped outside two dens with herb gardens. They belonged to the healer’s Hellene and Khaleesi, the healers. He would be in good hands if he ever got hurt. The duo continued their tour to the clearing where meetings and training sessions were held. “Those are some of the more important and unique parts of Aurora. You’ve picked a pretty good home here you know.” She smiled and he returned it. “What can I say? I am known for my excellent taste. At least I would be, if I was known for anything. Now, as far as real estate, you must know the best locations for a den. Any secret gems of Aurora known only to a few?” Gwaine wanted to get to know more about Chenzii and spending more time with her seemed the best way to do it. And he did need a den, that too of course.
