He had surely anticipated this conversation, after all, it seemed only logical that it would arrive and yet the gleaming golden son of Pan and Niviaq had perhaps not anticipated the bluntness with which the question itself was delivered. Such a thing was an error on his part perhaps, after all, was Nevermore not just as blunt? He had attempted before, to correct the girl on it, to add a little more language to her speech as it was. After all, bluntness in some things was needed, bluntness in other things far less so. Rhett had most assuredly been raised by Pan and as such his ideas upon certain aspects of life, language most notably was surely self-assured. Nevermore, he is sure, could learn to be at least a little less blunt then her mother, to approach less forcefully but equally assertive- Rhett having managed to stare towards the Alphass for several moments now before realising that he was, indeed, inclined to offer something of an answer to her words. The green-eyed boy allows another grin to work its way onto his features now, attempting to face the Queen with some level of confidence. Not too much of course and yet he hardly saw a need to cower away either.
“I am different, yes, but so is she and I find myself inclined to her company.”
They are careful words, young though he may be Rhett is far from foolish. Indeed the boy possess quite the intellectual mind, such a thing surely readily apparent and yet it does not pay to use to much of it at once, surely. It is better for now at least to simply answer the Alpha Females questions even if Rhett is perhaps unwilling to say all that much. After all, the opinion of Nevermore’s mother mattered, in many things it mattered. Aged as she was the female before him held a reputation, one he knew well of. Like her mate she remained undefeated on the field of battle and at such an age her prowess was near legendary. Such things, as of yet, remained outside Rhett’s own immediate skill set and yet perhaps in time the creature before him might prove to be a tutor in those pursuits less then academic. Indeed it would be unwise to offside this female before him.
“I met Nevermore when we were both much younger, I liked her from the beginning. I cam to this pack because there is nothing for me in Spirane. My Father has been the advisor there for years and I had no interest in that rank, so why stay to take it up in his stead? I came here because Never was here. I wanted to be her friend, maybe in time……more than that.”
It was, after all, the truth.
