aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Vladimir’s presence was comforting to the little ess. She felt safe, secure, even in the seemingly impenetrable darkness. She was still scared, but she was calmer than she had been. Her heartbeat had steadied itself to a normal speed and though she would never suggest going deeper in the cave, she figured that she would be able to do it if she had the princeling by her side. When the bruteling asked if he could be her friend forever, yes was the obvious choice to Sera. He had been a jerk to her, that was true, but the Vlad that she had seen since they’d entered the cave had more than proven that deep down he was kind. To the princess, this more than warranted her friendship. Even with the passage of time, the greatest enemy of friendship, theirs would not deteriorate. No, time would only strengthen their bond, though neither pup could know it. The thought never even crossed Sera’s mind. She was young still to care, or even think about, things like that. For now, all that she wanted was friends and to enjoy her time with them.

“Aw, Seraphina you don’t have anything to apologize for, I was mean and I shouldn’t have been. It’s all my fault.” Sera felt him move away from her, the colder air of the cave hitting her side. Vladimir moved only momentarily however, returning to her side and bumping his shoulder against her instead of whatever he’d been planning on doing before. “I’m glad we can be friends forever. But what are we going to do when your sister takes you away? We will never see each other any more? How can you keep being friends with someone if…” His little voice faded away to nothing. “I just… I don’t know… Nevermind it’s stupid…” If the princess hadn’t seen right next to him, she likely wouldn’t have heard him, but before she could respond Castiel rejoined them, much to her relief. Sera thought about what Vlad had said briefly, but she didn’t dwell on it, instead pushing the problem to the back of her mind to think about another time. Now for the matter of what the trio were going to do. With Cas’ tail linked, they could be sure to stick together, so that was one problem they didn’t have to worry about. And Sera had passed of leadership to Vladimir. He, at least, had some semblance of a plan.

“Okay. We can’t leave until we rest and collect our breaths… But we shouldn’t explore too deep in here without Mom and Dad knowing that we are here. So. We will explore… Together… And stick to one wall. If we stick to the wall then we can’t get lost? Right?” It made sense, but Sera was hesitant about the plan. What if they lost the wall? What if one of them got really scared and ran? What if a monster found them? The girl’s mind raced, but she moved along with Vladimir as he lead her and Castiel to the right. She kept as close to the prince as possible, the other plastered to her as well. Seraphina stopped moving when their leader did, his sigh of relief indicating that he’d found the wall. “See….? That wasn’t… So… Hard…” His words did not reflect the confidence in his movement and that in turn did not inspire confidence in Sera.

“Very funny Vlad.” Castiel let out a sort of laugh, muttering under his breath. The princess hardly caught his voice. Cas seemed to be just as uncomfortable as she was, and she rubbed her shoulder against his hoping to reassure him a little bit. “How far are we going to go, Vlad?” The prince spoke louder this time, a slight echo coming moments after his words. Seraphina wanted to explore with her friends, as most pups did, but she also didn’t want to go so far that they would be in trouble if they got hurt or lost. She didn’t want to still be in here when night fell either. Then even the bit of light from the cave entrance would be gone.

“We… we shouldn’t go too far.” The princess paused. She didn't want to sound like a wuss! “Just in case.” Sera added quickly.
