It was absolutely peaceful this morning. The feeling of the gentle zephyr running by allowed the older she-wolf to feel cool underneath the sun that was slowly rising higher and higher. Her eyes were completely closed and her mind a complete blank. She was in a deep, deep sleep now. So calm, so relaxed, and ever so content. Her dark ebony coat peppered with grey helped her stay hidden within the fields just in case someone came along to trouble her. She was tucked neatly in a ball, her dial over her paws, her tail over her nose. Her ears twitched and although they flicked slightly to show that she was listening, but she hardly was. With her old age she wouldn’t be able to hear so far away as she once was capable of doing. Deep within her sleep she had no idea that someone was coming along to destroy it.
She did not hear the sound of puppy paws crashing through the tall grass, her pitter-patter, slamming into the ground. She did not see the puppy try and steer herself away from her. Tick Tock was breathing smoothly and soundly. It was the sudden feeling of something small slamming into her ribcage did the she-wolf’s mind jolt awake. She remained still for a moment as she pondered just what it was that ran into her. Slowly her eyes would open, dark sapphire eyes filled with specks of violet, scanned the area around her, slowly, silently. Turning around she looked down and noticed the fearful pup that cowered before her. Remaining silent her form shifted slightly, to face the pup for a moment. Her jaws would part and she would yawn, her bright sharp ivory teeth revealed.
A soft growl was released as she began to shift around turning over slightly to put focus on the child. Front forelegs would begin to stretch out forward. Her thick banner would sway side to side over the ground for a moment as she got herself comfortable once again. Her neck would be raised slightly as her dial tilted downwards, her torn face remaining emotionless, as both dark eyes glared at the child. Of course Tick Tock would not harm the pup, after all, the pup was a part of her pack. Rather she was interested in being ‘playful’ and sadly her kind of playful was well...not so fun. Calmly her cold tone rang out as she spoke to the child, keeping her eyes pinned on her, terrifying voice reverberating within the morning air.
“Who dares disturb my slumber?
