The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind accepted her eventual resignation with grace, though he had indeed asked for further details. “My daughter and my protιgι are grown enough to make decisions of their own and I will not do them the dishonor of choosing for them. Should they wish to stay, then stay they will, and I know that both will do Abendrot proud if they do. Elsewise, I would have to return earlier than originally planned in order to have… curt words with them.” Halina nodded as he explained that he would send for her if needed, but only if. “You never need to question any reason to contact me. If you think you need me, then you probably do and whatever it is, it is bound to be an adventure. We will come, Ygritte and I.” She nodded and stared at him, making sure that Grey knew that she was being serious. Then, and only then, did the conversation turn to land on Grey Wind’s own love problems. He seemed to think that none of this his fault and the warrioress could not help but laugh. “You don’t know. You don’t know? Really, Grey Wind? I never thought of you as stupid, but this will make me question my thoughts of you. At any rate, I will get to the bottom of this when I see her soon.”

‘My king....my lady Halina, beautiful day, isn't it?’ Halina’s dark azures swiveled lazily to land upon the dry worn out shrubbery that crackled and broke as a varg emerged through it. Kissers curled upward as she stared at the titan, a varg quite a blast from the past. As he bowed, Halina’s smile only grew before she leapt at him. Strong limbs pushed off of the earth leaving deep grooves from her nails, and her form sailed through the air until she landed just short of him. Her shoulder and hip threw out a push at him, aiming to knock him off of his balance. “Marx, darling, I had not realized that you had returned. Your loyalty to the pack runs deep, doesn’t it? Though… perhaps not to the pack’s master?” Her cold eyes swept toward Grey Wind as she panted, her tongue lolling out. She had always been one to push boundaries and now was no different. But more so, she wanted to see exactly how Grey Wind would respond. Marx had been Kershov’s second in command, and it was odd that he had returned to Abendrot all too ready to commit his loyalty to Grey Wind in Kershov’s absence. Perhaps she understood his predicament all too well, given her own history and choices. The ess had travelled to Blossom Forest specifically to serve and pay homage to Kershov, and yet she had stayed. She had remained loyal to Abendrot.

One a soldier of Abendrot, always a solider of Abendrot.

“Abendrotian.” Halina turned back to Marx and tensed her jaw as she repeated the word a few times, but this time silently. “It is your explanation, yes? You belong to this land just as the land belongs you. It belongs to me and Grey Wind and Kershov. It takes a certain kind of wolf to live here, and for those certain few once you belong, you never stop.” Halina smiled and looked toward the Alpha. “So you see, Grey Wind, I won’t really be leaving. I’ll always return… eventually.” She laughed but then rolled her eyes to the side and fell silent as a young wolf entered the scene. Halina stared her down, daring her to make a wrong move so that she could punish her for first trespassing and also for being an ignorant twit. And then the teenager had made an annoying sound, a harsh blow that came from her throat and Halina found herself instantly amused. If nothing else, she would provide them with amusement before getting her pelt flailed from her body. But then she spoke and apologized to the two lords and introduced herself to Halina. Grey Wind responded quickly, pointing out Nzingha’s mistake to her gently and Halina shook her head and snapped at the young ess who cowered in front of her. “Halina, doll, and though I have plans for a trip in the near future for now I’m the Beta of the pack. It is intriguing indeed that were apparently ignorant enough to wrong us… Abendrotians in the first place, and now you ask for help. Interesting and intriguing indeed. Now answer your uncle, doll… what gargantuan problem do you have that warrants our help, and what can we receive in return?”
