He headed towards Asteraia, traveling through the canyons of Diveen and towards the wide openness of the plains. There was a certain energy to his steps although he moved slowly, allowing for his family to keep up. Ankh was still weak from giving birth and his children were young, but he did not wish to wait to return home. There was something healing about the plains, too, the clouds being in such clear view; he knew that Ankh would recover more quickly here. Although he had made Diveen his home, the plains had always been truly his, and he was ecstatic with the chance he had been given to return. It seemed only right that Halcyon should be alpha like their father before them, he belonged there.
It was hard to leave Aurai behind, but time had mellowed his temper in regards to her. Viserys knew that she had Emil now, he was strong and he would take care of her, and he was sure that her wandering paws would bring her to him again some day. Their bond, he believed, would remain strong despite the distance. It always had. The winter he had spent alone seemed so far away now with Ankh at his side and his children following close behind. They were young but he could already see their personalities developing, being shaped and formed by him and their mother and the world around them. It was hard to put into words just how much it meant to him to be able to raise them in his home.
As the jagged canyons and plateaus of Diveen smoothed into the plains of Asteraia, Viserys felt his heart lift. There was something so radiant, so brilliant about the feeling of grass beneath his paws, and the sight of rolling hills and tree copses in the distance. It felt so familiar, as if he had just been here yesterday. The passage of time, he thought, could not remove corporeal memory. The association between the plains, his childhood, and his happiness were too eternal to be lessened by time. He stopped at the borders, his brother's scent fresh and welcoming. The lost prince was lost no more... he had returned home.
Viserys turned to his family, his children and his mate. He addressed the former first. "Wait patiently, my darlings. This is Asteraia, my home and your mother's home before we moved to Diveen. My younger brother Halcyon rules here now." There was much more that he could say, but they would have all the time they needed to learn about the history of their family. He moved to nuzzle Ankh, whispering in her ear before pulling away, "You will be able to rest soon, love. Thank you for coming with me." With that, he turned back to face his homeland, and lifted his muzzle to sing for his brother. Home, home... it was good to be home.
