"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Orifel had told her to meet Zelda in his stead, perhaps figuring a wandering child was less conspicuous than someone older. In any case, Ceres had information that she figured the Goddess would want. She hadn't gone anywhere near Taviora in the time she had been on her mission, but certain scents that had crisscrossed through the freelands told her what she needed to know. Her father had come back, and although she did not necessarily resent him, his repeated absences and wandering eyes had turned her mother into a shell of what she once had been. It was a delicate line that she walked upon now, a line that did not tend to intersect with the lines of her family. Today though there were more important things on the agenda. Ceres had the information of Malleah's pups and the location of Aranck's den stored securely in her mind, and she was ready to pass along what she could to Zelda. The alphess was not expecting her, though, and she wasn't sure if Orifel had even told her that he was having a companion on this mission. Surprise surprise? The girl supposed it didn't matter if she was doing her job, though. Her small body and delicate, feminine face were deceiving- she could do much more than she appeared capable of. And her size and age tended to work to her advantage anyway. She padded through the forest, ears pricked and eyes alert. Soon, she caught a glimpse of the Goddess through the trees and quickly approached her. It was clear that Zelda was confused, and rightfully so, perhaps even a bit irritated that Orifel had taken along a pup with him. When the older female said her name, a wide grin spread across her face and she let out a laugh. Her grin grew even wider as she spoke, mischief flaring in her stark white eyes. Perhaps there was still a childish sense of adventure to her, and perhaps it seemed as though she was treating this mission like a game, but it was very much in her nature to play games. It made things easier, because when she played a game, she always needed to win. Ceres tilted her head slightly, her tail waving a bit behind her. CERES one / roman x morrigan / taviora |
