Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
i know it's been comin' for some time
IP: 72.168.178.3

He didn't know enough of Aranck's crimes to say what he did or didn't deserve but he trusted his family. If they said he was worthy of death then he believed them because he knew how his family was. They didn't kill for no reason and he believed that Zelda couldn't be any different. He had heard the rumors and wondered how many of them were true. There was talk that he had killed Aithne, the former alpha of Iromar. There was also talk that he had killed a puppy, but Dexter didn't know that it was Zeltzin's daughter. There were also whispers of rape, but he never put stock into anything he didn't look into first. He never accused someone of something without plenty of hard evidence. That was part of his rulebook. He could see the potential in Zelda to be a great ruler. She was still young, sure, but she was confident in herself and she already was willing to stand for what she believed in. That was more than some wolves twice her age would do. He admired her courage to be so honest with someone she had only just met, even if there was a brief encounter years ago. He was still practically a stranger to her and yet she trusted him with the truth.

She seemed surprised by his reaction, as if she expected him to scold her or tell her of his disappointment in her decisions against Aranck. She would get none of those things here. He wasn't one to judge and scolding just wasn't his thing. He believed that if she knew in her heart that Aranck was a monster who deserved death then that's exactly what he deserved.

"WHEN GIVEN A CHOICE, I BELIEVE YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT. IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID."

That was his way of saying he approved of her decisions. He didn't know if that meant anything to her but it was something. She seemed to have faith in the other young girl to take over Iromar and make it great again. Only time would tell if she was right. He told her that he would ask permission anyway to stay in Taviora and she giggled, the first sign of youth he'd seen in her since the beginning of this encounter. The gesture somehow made her seem even more complex as a ruler, but it didn't take away from her authority in the slightest. It was enjoyable. It made her more approachable as a leader. He couldn't help but answer with a smile. She seemed to have faith that he could help out in Taviora and he wagged his tail.

"I WILL DO MY BEST NOT TO LET YOU DOWN THEN."

He did feel a little more rlaxed now, knowing that the alpha herself was okay with him being here. It never would have felt right otherwise so at least now he wouldn't worry so much about being confronted by a pack member who didn't think he belonged here. He would show them all somehow, some way, that he did. He wanted purpose and more than that, he wanted to help. He wanted to bring his family some kind of peace and he wanted to show them that he wasn't a failure. He didn't have a mate or children to show for it like his siblings but he was good at things. He had skills, and he wanted to use them for good. He knew that he wasn't normal and he wouldn't ever try to be. The urge to hunt was just too strong to fight and his dark passenger would always win. It didn't mean that he always had to use those skills to hunt killers though. Maybe in time he would gain a rank in Taviora and be able to hold his head high again as he did when he was a hunter for Taviora under Amoxtli's rule. He wouldn't push for it but he would show what he was good at and see where she felt he should be placed. He had faith in Zelda's judgement.

He watched her body tense up when she said the word "vengeance" and he wondered immediately if he should have worded that differently. It's just the first word that came to mind, the first instinct. He knew it was the reason he was going to hunt down the wolf eventually once he found out what he'd done. He would have called it exactly what it was and never apologized for it. By tensing like she did, it was almost like she was showing more of her good intentions. She never meant to kill Aranck just for spite. It meant something more to her than that and it spoke volumes for her as a leader. She said that it wouldn't make Zeltzin feel better but it was best for Moladian and he smiled softly, nodding.

"IT'S A START, THOUGH, AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS. BRINGING A LITTLE BIT MORE LIGHT INTO THE WORLD IS NEVER A BAD THING, EVEN IF IT MEANS SOME DARKNESS NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT IN THE MEANTIME. ONLY TIME CAN HEAL SOME WOUNDS, BUT IT'S A START."

He pricked his ears, listening carefully as she told him that she'd had a wolf following the trail of Amoxtli's poisoning. He was happy to know that she didn't just let the subject drop as Amoxtli seemed to have. She was determined to find out who was responsible as well. It seems her wolf Alistair had found something and even though he heard the part where she said it might fracture their family, he leaned forward eagerly, still wanting to hear more. The truth could always hurt, but it was still the truth and they deserved that, no matter the consequences. He waited patiently as she sat down and took a deep breath before she started pacing. It was obvious that the news she found out was disturbing to her and made her restless. His ears flicked back, wanting to help with her burden. Then she said that Alistair told her someone in Glorall did it and Eden knows who. His ears pricked forward again, his breath catching in his throat. Eden had been a staple in Glorall for a long time, a mysterious leader but never really causing trouble. He had always been an ally to Taviora so why hide something like this? What was he protecting, or who?

His tail gave a swish of irritation now, his eyes troubled as he looked down for a minute, collecting his thoughts. She's right. This would need to be handled carefully, especially now that he knew his own sister had had "intimate" relations with Eden himself. She said that she wanted to know who and why and his gaze lifted back to hers in instant agreement. She was worried about Zeltzin and how she would handle the news and then explained that he came often to visit the children. Dexter scowled thoughtfully. Then she asked him to help Alistair and see what they could find. His tail gave a wag. This was what he had wanted to hear. He knew that he would have to be extra careful now. There were many angles to approach this by and they needed to choose the right one or risk an all out pack war. Feelings might be hurt and relationships based on trust might be tested but in the end, the truth was all that mattered to him. He needed to know. More importantly, Amoxtli deserved to know.

She told him to meet up with Alistair and he nodded. He would do that as soon as possible. He wanted to jump right into this, with a clear mind and quiet paws, of course. They would be careful and they would think before they act. She's right. Rash actions would do no good for either party involved. He knew instantly that while she was giving him permission to tell, he wouldn't do that. Not unless it was absolutely necessary to get him further to the answer. No, it was best if fewer minds knew this and he felt honored that she had chosen to tell him.

"I AM HONORED BY YOUR TRUST. I WILL MEET WITH HIM IMMEDIATELY AND SEE WHERE WE CAN GO FROM HERE. I UNDERSTAND THE RISKS INVOLVED. YOUR INPUT WILL BE BROUGHT INTO IT BEFORE ANY BIG ACTIONS ARE TAKEN. I ONLY WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO DID IT AND WHY, JUST AS YOU SAY. IF IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AND IT WASN'T MEANT FOR HIM, THAT'S FINE. NOT FORGIVABLE, BUT ALL I WANT IS THE TRUTH. SECRETS LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE KEPT, NOT UNLESS YOU DON'T PLAN ON EVER GETTING CAUGHT AND THAT WAS THEIR FIRST MISTAKE. THINKING IT WOULD BE DROPPED. THANK YOU, ZELDA, FOR TELLING ME. IT SAVES ME A LOT OF WORK AND GIVES ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH. I WANT TO HELP THE PACK AND MY FAMILY. I HOPE I LIVE UP TO THAT FOR YOU."

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
