Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Tuari
Not Until I am the last Arrow on the Battlefield

Why did she feel this way? Why was she acting like this? There had only been few times where such anger boiled into her and usually it dealt with being physically hurt by some prey, not other wolves and certainly not Dexter. She felt so bad once she was there, once she realized what she was doing but she also felt she had to do it. She could see the fear in his eyes but pushed through anyway. He had to listen to her, know that he was fine, that THEY would be fine, and running away, ignoring her just killed her. She just never expected it out of him, of all the wolves, the big brave Dexter, who now she knew hunted down killers for recreation, running away from her. It hurt way worse to think that he couldn’t talk to her, face her, than being told that he liked some other girl. Though that still stung too.

So she didn’t feel immediate regret as she hunted him down like the prey she usually took out this blinding sudden feeling from. She didn’t even notice him slow, taking the initiative to put him on the cold ground instead. Tuari was a big, strong, huntress. Perhaps not meant for raw power like the male she had now rolling on the ground, but strong and athletic nonetheless. Even if she could have growled she wouldn’t have, her face contorted so frustrated and hurt by what was going on. She never would have thought she would be doing this to him of all wolves. Her golden ears twitched at the surprised sound of his voice as he stared up at her. At the very least it seemed he was paying attention at the moment. Which was what she wanted, though the surprise, shock and borderline fear she could do without.

She spoke like this for years to Jinan, he was a true master of lip reading, despite being deaf as long as he was paying attention he could understand every word said to him as long as the speaker wasn’t going to fast. Tuari too had worked at speaking for a time, forming words with her lips trying to figure out how to mock her father when she was young. She still couldn’t speak long sentences or a lot, no one really tried to watch her face that closely. He seemed to understand her though as she said she didn’t want him to run. His reply was unexpected, and perhaps in normal circumstances she would have been taken aback, even upset that he would ever think she would hurt him badly. Still she didn’t want to go off topic quickly saying what she had too, before all the weight seemed to return to her.

She just felt… tired now.

She did think she misunderstood, looked too far into what he said. Of course he meant cared for her as a friend and she loaded too much hopeful emotions into his words about wanting a family and everything else. She read into it too far, thought he did want, care about her that way. More than friends, like partners. Tuari was still sitting there hunched over slightly. She felt bad for pinning him, scaring him, now that it was over. She didn’t have it in her to apologize for that too. Maybe she was the real monster here. Flying into fits of blind actions like that. Least what he did he knew what he was doing.

Her ears pinned against her head rubbing one of her black paws to her face and rubbing her golden marked eyes. She hadn’t realized she had been crying until now. She was more upset with herself knowing she hadn’t noticed and he had. She was just frustrated with herself in so many ways now. Being mute had always been a struggle, but now she wished she could just get it to go away. Never before now had she wanted that, it never lead to issues before but now it just felt like it was messing everything up. Maybe if she was able to talk he would have known sooner, maybe if she wasn’t so worried about getting in the way or hurt she would have maybe mentioned something before now without making this… mess.

She didn’t look at him when he spoke, she couldn’t honestly bring herself too. She did nothing but frown and stare at the ground, trying to make herself feel numb to everything again, like she did with Levi being gone. It was better to just shut down and feel nothing than hurt. Her golden ears twitched to show she at least acknowledged what he was saying to her. Though she shook her head when he kept saying it was his fault, that he was a horrible friend. No, she wouldn’t have that. Dexter was one of the most affable wolves she knew, she shouldn’t be surprised that he met and talked to many others, got someone else on his radar that wasn’t her. It wasn’t like she had a way of telling him, making it more obvious and it wasn’t like she was making it obvious at all to begin with. No, it was her fault.

Once he was done she slowly turned her head to look at him, raising one of her black paws to her chest and touching it. It was her fault. All of it. If anyone was too immature for kids it was her. After all she had been the one that held it all in waiting for him to maybe say something. She didn’t have a right to be hurt or angry about any of this.

She gave him an apologetic look before forcing her tail to flick through the leaves. She was trying to put her mask back on. Make things go back to before she assumed things, but the damage was done. It didn’t stop her desire to be close to him, but she would try and keep herself at arm's length if that’s what it took. After all pushing him away more was the last thing she wanted.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
