Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

He was such a jerk. An idiot! That's exactly what he was. Even after that big heartfelt discussion with Tuari over their feelings for each other, he had gone and done the one thing that he would always hate himself for. He had given in to his urges and now he had to deal with the consequences, if there were any, that is. It could always be a fluke and maybe it didn't take but still he felt horrible for treating Tuari like that. He didn't want her to think she was just a hook up or a go to during winter. She was his best friend, for pete's sake! So he went out of his way not to avoid her so she would never get that idea. He treated her with the same respect and attention he always did, even caring for her over the course of the hunt. It wasn't like he had to force himself to do it. It was second nature at this part. He cared about her so much, but he wasn't sure how to describe his feelings between the two females in his life. He knew that he liked Talien a lot and he could never write her off. She was beautiful and witty and made him feel all kinds of warm inside. And yet Tuari was never far from his thoughts.

He knew that soon enough they would find out what would come of their little encounter, just as he would find out what would happen with his encounter with Talien. He wasn't sure how they would feel knowing that he'd been with both of them during the course of the winter but he would have to deal with that when it happened. He wouldn't lie to either of them and yet he hated the thought of hurting either one of them ever again. And yet it seemed it was destined to happen anyway. And again, it was all his fault. He had noticed a slight change to Tuari in their time together since the hunt. She was fluffy for sure, but he was blaming that on her winter coat and eating good after the hunt. Surely she was just eating extra food, right? But somehow he had a gut feeling that it wasn't just that. He had seen her behaving oddly sometimes, suddenly barfing into a bush and turning down hunts and acting sickly more than usual. When he tried to ask her about it, she tried to pretend everything was okay but he knew she was hiding something from him and it made his stomach drop in worry.

What if she was really sick and she didn't want him to know? That only made him worry more! He was headed to her den to meet up with her, eager to get some alone time to talk about what had happened and what it would possibly mean for their future. He was bringing along some herbs he had taken the time to learn about, something other than herbs that would hurt or paralyze. These would actually help someone, soothe their stomach and help them get comfortable. He had dug the roots up and found the right mosses to make a concoction and now he was bringing it to her, hoping it would help. He didn't want to run from his problems. Tuari had set him right by telling him that he shouldn't run. He wasn't going to now, no matter what. If she ended up pregnant then he would be there for her and for the pups. He just didn't know who he would count as his mate. He still had so many feelings to work out.

He knew that Tuari had wanted to be a mother but the idea that he might give her children without being able to promise her that they would end up together; that was killing him. He didn't want to do that to her or to Talien. Stupid hormones. He could only hope that she was trying to take it easy and stay in her den. At least there, he knew she was safe. So of course he was more than surprised when she came running up to him and bumped right into his shoulder. His eyes widened and his ears flicked back, his expression full of shock and concern.

"Tuari, what are you doing out here?! Don't you see the snow? Come on, let's get you back to your den. I've got a surprise for you."

He nudged her shoulder with his nose, trying to herd her back to her den. Maybe some day when he was old and hoary, he would laugh at these moments in time. But as it was now, it was just stressful and nerve wrecking and eh just wanted her to be somewhere safe and quiet. Was that too much to ask?

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
