Ame couldn’t express how happy he was to have the large wolf at his side. Long ago they had formed something akin to a partnership. Jackson helped Ame keep the lands (and him) safe when he did things that might have been above him, and they gave each other friendship. However, Jackson had his own mysteries to solve, he had wandered away for a time leaving Ame once again alone. Thus far this had been a solo mission and an unfruitful one at that. Today though he felt things were different. The scent permeated around him, he had seen tracks and followed him through his spine tingled like he felt he was being watched at all times this night.
He shook the feeling though, thinking perhaps it was Jackson’s sudden reappearance that was what caused him to feel such a way. It was foreboding though, and the mostly white male that stood before him spoke and very quickly Ame realized he wasn’t alone in feeling like something was here with them. ”The night beasts… this one thinks one is here. This one has been hunting them since the start of this year…” The cold felt like it burned into his skin, again his spine tingled and he took a moment to walk through the snow slightly, ears poised and alert when out of the corner of one of his pale blue eyes he saw it coming right for him at speeds he felt was almost unnatural the yowl feeling like it was in his very bones.
A snarl quickly rippled through the slate colored male. The beast was large for a cougar Ame was surprised, but his body reacted almost instinctually. He ducked his form quickly moving his smaller more speedy form to the side, though he didn’t avoid the creature all together. Her jaws he managed to quickly move from, but he felt her hooking claws grip his right shoulder go over his back and rough, before ending at the left. A yelp escaped him, but he quickly stifled the pain with a snarl, letting the burning feeling of the fresh wounds on cold air spur him into his next move.
With a quick lunge he went for one of her back legs to hopefully slow her. Jackson he was certain would converge as well and truly he hoped his much larger partner was up to this very rude welcoming party.
