Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

She didn’t know what to think of what had transpired in the past weeks. She had been pondering for some time what to do with the woman when finally she was… gone. Zelda made sure that, other than her general accommodation of being stuck in her pit prison, she was well cared for. She provided her plenty of food, allowed her out for walks in her lands, heavily guarded of course, then one day she was gone. She had investigated it herself and to her surprise Diveen’s scent had been all around her cell. Why? Why did Diveen come here? She knew they had no alliance, not formally at least, but they knew their Son once called this land home… What had happened? Why her of all wolves did they decide to take. It wasn’t as if the black and silver female was guarded carefully at all times, but Zelda never thought she would have to take such… extreme measures. Especially not from a pack that had forever been one of Taviora’s closest allies. She had been planning on going, seeing what they needed her for it hadn’t been long since she was stolen away, but it seemed soon she was going to get some answers… rather more questions.

The smell of Iromar was actually comforting to Zelda. She smelled her cousin and Pine very soon upon their crossing. Honestly she had been expecting a visit all spring, for some reason she thought perhaps they would be providing Zelda with a bit more family for the year. Already she had more cousins, her mother told her of the… precarious situation her uncle was in, and it seemed like this year had boomed with more pups than any for some time. She thought maybe that her cousin would be bringing her news of his children, but the moment Pine had called out to her her tones serious all thoughts of such joy were ripped from her.

She had turned with a broad smile upon her maw, her tail waving at the sight of the pair initially. She had heard of their new proclaimed mateship, but the gravity in her voice, despite the warmth caused Zelda’s features to almost immediately falter. She looked to Cenna then, concern etched into her features even as he gave her a small smile as he held some branch or another between his jaws. Her gaze flicked back to Pine, silent as she explained that a wolf had been murdered in her home and it was the scent of Taviora over the scene. Her mind did not jump to Arace in the slightest. Astonishment and words of empathy as well as trying to explain immediately jumped to her mind and almost her maw, but Pine put the words right into her mouth.

A sigh of relief came to Zelda, thankful that Pine knew her, her pack, well enough to know never would they do such a thing, especially not in cold blood. She did not know of any issues between their two lands since Pine had taken control. Even in the past it was only Aranak that she was aware of that had caused any problems and well… that was over with. To frame them though? She watched as Cenmatl placed the branch at her paws. Knowing what he wanted she took a sniff up and down the branch before her head jerked up and surprise and understanding finally hitting her.

”This is… Arace’s scent.” She knew how badly that must have sounded, that she knew the name of the perpetrator almost immediately, ”At least… I am pretty sure. She’s not a member, she was our prisoner up until recently at least. I was meaning to go to Diveen to figure it all out, but they had stolen her from us. I wasn’t too terribly worried, Diveen had long been close to us since Taviora’s founding… I thought that maybe she had attacked one of theirs and they sought to take her. See… she attacked my lead warrior suddenly two seasons ago, and she was prisoner up until recently… I well, I didn’t know what to do with her. She wasn’t being honest with us, and.” She said it all very quickly trying to explain all that had happened. ”I couldn’t…” She sighed unable to say ‘kill her.’ Guilt hit her in the chest, if she had been more cautious, had been more strict… a wolf wouldn’t have died.

”I’m… so sorry. Pine… Cenna.” She said her ears falling her gaze averting. She couldn’t make this better, surely in Iromar there was a wolf suffering from the loss, perhaps the wolf slain had a family. Arace… Zelda could never have killed her because of Starfall. That was when it hit her. ”Starfall… I have her imprint here. He’s my elder, he’s a very good wolf, I know that I-we- will do whatever we can to help track her down with you.” Zelda assured them, but then something struck her. Unlike Zelda, Pine was direct if nothing else, in dealing with her problems. She had slain Aranck without second thought, would she with the same vengeance upon the one that killed her member? She had seen the pain losing an imprint caused her grandfather, and worry started to rise up once again in her chest.

”What would you plan to do with her if you caught her?” She asked tentatively. Her eyes going to Pine’s once more. She wanted to know before she called him, he would be invaluable for helping with this...of that she was certain but she wasn’t about to go send him to find his imprint just to watch her be killed. That would be a fate more crueler than anything else. Zelda knew she shouldn’t have thought twice. The wolf attacked Tithe, tried to lie about it, then turned around and did who knew what to Diveen before escaping and then killing a wolf of Iromar. Why did she still feel the need to give Arace mercy? For Starfall of course, the kind male didn’t deserve this fate, but it was quickly seeming that it was the only way to end Arace’s deeds.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
