Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Dark! Dark! Matianak & Umbra

Dawn would soon be upon them but the burning had come in the darkness of night. It clawed into his bones and awakened him with a low groan and turned into a growl and he shifted, thrusting his lean nose roughly into the sides of both Umbra and Matianak to awaken them. A fervent, glowing look seemed to emanate from his eyes as he stands and abruptly exits the den. He does not tell them what is about to happen - he should not need to. The Shade is hungry and it knows where to find its next soul to consume and it was the duty of Underidge, his mortal disciple, to cull it for him. The silver tipped brute begins at an unforgiving lope. There is no grace in it for he moves much like a jackal, jolting up and down and left and right, but all with a perfect direction.

The burning lessens as he grows further from Gloral and closer to their target, daughters on his heels. His pants are harsh but the pain recedes as he comes towards a small grove of trees pressed right together. Within them is their quarry and he comes to silent halt, long claws pressing into the soft soil as he peers between brush to the unfortunate soul. An older female with gray around her muzzle. She slumbers fitfully, jerking a bit, with one foreleg stretched out. Scabs cover it from bite marks that were healing on the outside but no doubt sore and bruised to her tender muscles and bone.

The need to kill is strong if only to assuage the Shade but this was not his kill. Instead he turns to his girls then, fierce eyes glaring, and he lowers his head with ears press back. "Go," he hisses. It was time for them to prove themselves as the apprentices they always clamored to be.
