Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP FOR DEATH

IP: 108.69.201.108

"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

She had expected a broken heart to heal by now. There was no saving grace, no mantra she could repeat in her head, nothing she could do to stop the throbbing of her chest when she woke up in a den, alone, having dreamt of her mother's scent and her warm touch and then forgetting it upon waking up. And so, instead, Ceres had simply bandaged up the pieces, and instead of healing like a well-tended wound, callouses and infection had sprung up around each shattered piece. Sadness, desperation, and melancholy had emanated from each broken piece. But now that they had been hastily squished back together, those feelings were replaced with an aloof apathy that seemed to ostracize her from everyone who still managed to experience empathy.

The world was cruel and unfair and Ceres had learned that much sooner than she should have. There was very little light in the world that Morrigan no longer inhabited, and so for the sake of staying busy, the girl had persisted in earning her rank and eventually sat high upon a meaningless throne. But it gave her some sort of purpose, at the very least, in a life where direction was incredibly difficult to find. Uncertainty and self-doubt had long since left her mind, although the cockiness that was countered by it had not. Although, as she aged, it was beginning to mature into a rather attractive confidence, a suaveness that befitted her slender, feminine form. She was no idiot. She could feel eyes upon her as she walked, she saw the smirks after her white eyes flashed a cutting gaze. But in truth, Ceres didn't mind it. Her mother had been much the same way, and had expressed with a subtle smirk that it was rather easy to get what you wanted when you were a woman.

Unfortunately, there would be no more motherly guidance. Ceres rolled onto her back, staring up at the sky outside of her den. The tree cover was less dense, here, offering her a better view of the heavens than most wolves. She liked to imagine Morrigan up there, in the stars, but she knew that it was a silly and childish thought. Her mother was in the dirt beneath their old den, and her soul was probably experiencing incomprehensible nothingness. Maybe that was kinder.

The soft crunch of leaf litter brought her attention to the male approaching. She lifted her head, peering across her stomach at Orifel, her mentor of sorts, a brother-esque figure and a confidant. Or at least, he had been, before she'd decided to sequester herself away from the rest of the pack and ignore everyone but Zelda and occasionally her remaining family. The look on his face was not playful, and his more serious words brought a small frown to her face. She knew where this was going. It was her job, after all, to know things, and Orion's howl had been loud and mournful enough for most of Moladion to hear it. Didn't take long for the news to reach her- Orifel's brother had been killed. How, when, why, or where, she didn't know, but she supposed it wasn't her job to unless it was made out to be.

Ceres rolled onto her side to at least avoid the awkward positioning he had seen her in. It wasn't as if she really cared, but common decency was... a thing. "You're leaving, aren't you?" The question was blunt and guarded. In truth, the thought made her want to scream, to lose the only level-headed and mature wolf she could confide in. Roman hadn't been the same, but... neither had she. She didn't want him to go. She knew, however, that there was no way to stop him. "Come visit sometime." She glanced up at him, giving him a half-smile, obviously upset at the news but unwilling to divulge why or how much. There wasn't much more to say than goodbye- and she didn't care for long ones.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
