The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Lucia

She had totally planned on going straight home after she found her father talking to that other wolf on the beach but her mind was so full of new thoughts that she found herself lost in her head instead of watching where she was walking. Instead of taking the path that goes straight to the Crags and her den, she instead kept going straight. Who was that wolf and why did she act so cozy with Exodus? Were they siblings or something? She didn't know how siblings act since she didn't really have any, save Myrria. That was the closest she had to a sister but Myrria wasn't the cuddling type. Lucia usually saved their time as pouncing on her and sparring with her tail. She had tried to snuggle up to Myrria before but she didn't look too enthused at the idea.

Her father was speaking another language to the wolf and the other wolf in turn. They had a full conversation and it sounded so like Aeon's language that she was both excited and confused. She wanted to ask her dad to teach her so that Aeon and her could talk in their own secret language but at the same time, something told her Exodus wouldn't be too thrilled that she had followed him from the den and saw that conversation. He had hidden that hole and ruined the leaf that the wolf had left, after all, like he wanted to keep it a secret. She had been awake that night when the white wolf came and she had watched her dig the hole and leave the leaf. The wolf had even seen her, giving her a pearly grin before she disappeared into the night. Somehow, Lucia didn't feel scared of the white wolf, just intrigued.

She found herself at the entrance to the grotto and paused to blink in the dim lighting. She knew this wasn't the crags but she wasn't sure where she had gone off course. She looked around with a confused expression. But then a flash of white caught her attention and she stumbled back, tripping on a rock and falling back on her butt. She sniffed and looked around, searching diligently for that white again. But the voice in her ear caught her off guard.

"Quite the little spy, aren't you?"

It was the white wolf who was suddenly behind her. Lucia jumped up and spun around to face her, blinking up at her in curiosity. She was so quick and sneaky! But her blue eyes were mesmerizing. Her ears flicked back as she processed the wolf's words and knew at least one wolf had been aware she was there at the beach.

"I just wanted to know what daddy was doing. I swear I didn't understand a word you were saying so I couldn't tell anyone even if I wanted to. Is it a big secret you're keeping? Is he in trouble for something?"

Her young curiosity got the better of her as she gazed up at the wolf. The female smirked though and laid down before her to put herself on Lucia's level. It was quite kind of her in Lucia's opinion. She took a seat herself, wrapping her tail around her haunches.

"Your dear daddy has quite the past, but you needn't worry yourself with that. Would you like to keep secrets too? To learn the language of the dead?"

Lucia's eyes widened. Could this be her chance? She beamed at the female.

"My friend Aeon speaks like that too so I think it's the same language. But does it have to be so creepy? Language of the dead just sounds....icky. But I do still want to learn it. I want to be able to talk to Aeon."

The wolf chuckled.

"Well it is an ancient language, but I guess if you promise to keep our meetings a secret, then I can teach you. But the minute you let the cat out of the bag, it's over. And there may be dire consequences for your dear daddy."

She made it sound so enchanting and cool! Lucia told her that she had to know it. She wanted to impress Aeon, after all. Keep their meetings a secret? She could do that! She nodded her head vigorously. If dad had wanted to keep his own meeting with the white wolf a secret then he probably wouldn't want her meeting with her either so it was a win-win in Lucia's opinion. She wouldn't get in trouble for being places she shouldn't and she would learn Aeon's language. It made even easier when the wolf mentioned her dad. Her eyes got as big as saucers. Was she threatening Exodus? And yet still she wanted this badly enough.

"I won't tell, promise. When can we start?"

Excitement rolled through her in waves. She wanted to know it all right now so she could go find Aeon and impress him! But the white wolf stood and shook out her coat.

"Soon, Lucia. I'll find you again and we will start."

She started to walk away and Lucia screwed up her nose before calling after her.

"Hey, wait! What do I call you? It's only fair since you know my name."

The wolf glanced over her shoulder and smirked then she started walking again. Lucia frowned and was about to try to go after her when she heard the female's voice.

"Call me Ghost. I'll find you soon."

Then the wolf was gone. Lucia considered for a moment then shrugged. It seemed to fit and it was better than nothing. She turned back to the darkness. She still had to figure out how to get back to the crags. She ventured further into the caverns. Maybe there was a way to get there through here?
