PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

JETTA

Jetta felt her chest tighten with gratitude at Macabre's kind words. For a moment she teetered on the edge of self-control, and sucked in a deep breath slowly to steady herself. When she felt she was collected enough to speak, she managed tearful smile. "I've missed you too, Macabre."

She tried to recall the first time they met, but could not. She had known Macabre since she was a filly; since before her memories began. The chestnut mare had been her mother's friend, a generation older than her, and yet nearly seven years later here they were. Their age difference did not matter, had never mattered. Somehow they had become closer than Inka and Macabre had ever been, but Jetta would not have it any other way.

Thinking of her mother made her glance out through the trees, toward the open field where Oswin and Reya still were chatting. She heaved a great sigh. "It took me a lot to come back up here, after I heard this was where she passed. Part of me was afraid I would come across her, still lying where she had fallen."

She looked back down at her friend and blinked away a solitary tear. "Can I make a confession? Her absence made me realize that I want a child. Something to fill the hole she left, maybe. I even dreamed of him: a pale little boy, standing on this very peak. A few weeks ago I travelled down into the commons and met a young stallion who looked just like him. I think... I think I may be pregnant with his child."
