It was always a risk, approaching a strangely so confidently - and especially with a bit of cheek - but mercifully, Lunero's gamble had paid off. The handsome stranger was as charming as Lunero could have hoped, and, oh! what a relief it was to hear his mother tongue reciprocated. That had been another gamble - Lunero could not remember what language these islanders preferred, and so he had defaulted to the one he preferred.
"Gracias, señor," he replied with a gracious dip of his head, his smile widening. He took a moment to appreciate the fine details of the stranger before him, his hazel eyes subtly flicking up and down, then appraising his stance and manner with a calculating eye. Was it his imagination, or was he receiving some meaningful vibes? Oh, how jealous Casimiro would be to know that the first islander Lunero had come across was la reina coqueta!
"I am called Lunero Olivia de Costa Agua Brillante," he continued, lifting his head with pride, "but that is a mouthful, so you may call me Lunero. For me to have met you today, my lucky stars must have been shining. Where is it you come from, sir? Perhaps we were neighbors without knowing it."
