It had become more and more difficult not to let his paws wander the more he aged, with his siblings being as distant as they were, there was only so much he could get out of his parents in way of conversation. His father was, perhaps, a bit too peaceful for his liking, he let things happen simply because that's the way it should be. Though Xerxes liked to think his father's no-nonsense attitude was a result of him saying that patients might not always be right, and they certainly weren't going to always be kind. Healing was a difficult art and one that didn't call to him as much as poetry and song, but he learned it only to know some sort of useful skill, should he come across some injured and lost pup or something. Couldn't exactly sing it back to life.
Xerxes snorted, curling back in upon himself before leaping upwards onto his favorite spot in Asteraia, the sunning rock that he had happily claimed for his own. It got the perfect amount of sun near the middle of the day, and with the winter temperatures settling in, the bright sunlight felt even grander than it usually did. He stretched out upon his rock, pale body lithe and graceful, feathery fur being tousled lightly by the wind. The boy knew he was growing into someone rather dashing, his face was attractive and masculine, with tight muscle beginning to make itself apparent. His mind, he also knew, was a beautiful thing- he'd rather make someone swoon than snap at them, anyhow.
Perhaps it was a bit of a manipulatory game but Xerxes cared little for morality imposed upon him by others. If nothing else, his father had taught him how to never abandon your philosophy in the face of someone that denied it, yet to keep an open mind so that you could shape it yourself. The boy preferred a little chaos, and perhaps that was Ankh's line in him, a bit more fiery and passionate than the noble knights and distinguished wolves that characterized his father's. He grinned, stretching his long legs out in front of him, admiring the way his fur shimmered in the spotlight.
After all, a little bit of narcissism never hurt anybody.
