Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

A bit of poison and a bit of powder

Evil, vile, she has been the face of many names. A spirit that writhes across the lands with a wicked smile and sharp fangs, her veneer one of whatever she needed it to be. A mask, quick to change, quick to settle. What was Arace though beneath all the pomp, all the training? Arrogant. Vain. Cruel if only out of self care. But also bound by codes and form of wayward honor that was unlike the sweetness of Zelda. The Queen surrounded herself with warriors and it was clear she was not as stupid as Arace had first been led to believe. Young, yes, but youth meant little when the mantle of leader was taken up and followed with strict precision. The Queen seems almost amused by her less than welcoming thanks but Arace doesn't take it back or snap. Manners made things go a long way and besides she was a prisoner of circumstance so she should probably make the best of it until things settled. Like her bones. Part of her knew that if she became a cripple she didn't think she could bare it - and the idea of sacrificing herself for sweet release was not far fetched. Such is what it meant to her to be without her precise set of skills.

Think nothing of it, Zelda says and Arace almost rolls her eyes, scoffing internally at the kindness of the female. It is rather beguiling to her that after she had assaulted one of their own and then escaped them that she would be so... generous. Surely after the whole Eleanor debacle she realized Arace had intended to kill Tithe. But maybe Zelda wasn't a fury like Pine - who Arace had to admit had made a point with her punishment - and preferred using honeyed words to disguise her intentions. It made the assassins eyes sharpen upon Zelda even as they begin a dance of words. Would Arace give up her accomplice? No. Would she waste Zeldas time? Also a no, but it seemed the Queen had expected nothing less. She fully believed that Arace should not have been tortured and it makes her sleek head turn, head spinning at the thought.

Her little laugh makes Arace's ears flip back and she actually does roll her eyes this time, but keeps listening. "I am but a sword that is to be wielded but do not mistake me as useless, Savior-Queen. I am my own wolf. The choices I make are with prior knowledge. I walked into it and quite frankly I find it incredibly odd that you would offer even an ounce of hospitality to me." If anything, Arace could be quite frank at times - it was just as off putting as lies sometimes. "I think she made quite a point, don't you?" Now the wolfess grins in her wicked manner, eyes trained to see how Zelda might react to her own agreement of Pines actions. "It isn't pleasant to be on the receiving end but it sure makes the world stand to attention, don't you think? There is beauty in savagery too," she adds, eyes twinkling with mischief, trying to unsettle the sweet Queen.

That look falters and turns into one of disbelief as Zelda takes her words and laces a demand within it. "Serve... you?" There is obvious suspicion in her voice as she waits for the catch. "Starfall would have been better off without me," she interjects bluntly but gives a poisoned smile. "Not that I object to his handsome face and all." Honor bound and loyal. The words seem to rock Arace to the core as she lets silence fall before Zelda fills it again, mulling over the idea. It seems the Queen wasn't as sweet as she let on - knowing that the future might mean she would have to strike back to make a point.

"There are.. older debts. I must figure out what I shall do for I have no favors of my own to call in." Another self deprecating smile. "What would you have me do, Zelda, if you were to wield me? I refuse to pup sit or do anything remotely... domestic like." A shudder of horror is given but a flicker of pain follows from the movement. "And I am not much use to you unless this paw can be healed. Once my beauty could have stopped a war in its tracks and yet now... I fear that it will fail me." Fury finally laces her tones, her vanity and arrogance having taken quite a hit.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
