A Promise Was Made

'Yes you did. How did your meeting with Motionless go? So, have you thought about how you want to train? Would you like us to go over the basics or would you rather seek out your father now?'
His aunt had rubbed against the entirety of his form, greeting him warmly and Drizzt felt a warmth spread through him- so this is what is felt to have family actually care about you. This is how it felt to have your blood watch out for you, to fulfill their promises and to not lie. Adara had promised to meet him, and here she was, waiting for him. She had been honest about her skills, despite the fact that she was not exactly what he was looking for in a mentor. "My meeting with Motionless was... interesting to say the least. We talked a lot about a lot of things. But we agreed that we were not meant for each other... she told me she loved me and I thought she had meant in a romantic way rather than in a platonic way. I took her words the wrong way but it is all settled now. She asked me to stay within the pack, to remain with her in the pack as her Beta." It was weird to say - afterall, he had just only accepted membership into a pack himself for the first time... and more than that he had never held a rank, yet now he was the Beta, the second in command. He had so much fear of failure, especially with the additional responsibility of both protecting the Rainbows and fighting the vampires... it was almost too much for him to bear and thinking about. But at least Adara was willing to help him.
She had been honest with him before, telling him that she was no expert fighter, not actually having gone through any battles herself other than play fights as a pup and teen. But that did not mean she had not been taught, and she could pass on what she did know to him. If that was indeed his wish. And for now, it was. His father had abandoned him in Spring Grounds, had left him to be an orphan just like his mother had done. He wanted to know if perhaps things would be different with her, or whether she too would abandon him.
Little did he know that his reign as Beta would be short lived, and would already be coming to an end. In the short few days it had taken him to find her since the last time he had seen his aunt, much had changed - a Vampire Queen had risen up and turned a bunch of pups, and had her sights set on regaining her throne. An archdemon followed in her shadow, not serving her, but walking beside her, and would help her in this. And Motionless? She was about to become ousted from her own past so that the last queen could take over again. But for now, he would be wonderfully indifferent, and would enjoy the time he could with his aunt. "I would very much like for you to teach me what you can. Then at least I will have a basis to learn upon, and then if I decide to... to go to my father I will not be completely inept. I am not sure that being a warrior is for me, but we all need to know a little bit so that we can contribute toward the war - fight the vampires and protect our Arcus Irae." Drizzt bowed to his aunt, stretching out his spine so that it would be ready for whatever she was. about to teach him.
