Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

Fear Makes People Do Terrible Things

_________________________________________________________________________

The young male was finally becoming accustomed to a more social life. Since he was a pup and lost his family he had decided to live a more solitary life. What was the point of becoming close to someone when you would just lose them? That had been his attitude for the longest time. He was still haunted by the night that his pack had been attacked, nightmares plaguing him of ferocious shadows chasing him down when he slept. Lupin still didn’t understand how he had survived when his parents, full grown adults that knew how to fight back, had perished. It taught him from an early age that the world was far from fair. The male had escaped with the haunting memories and a scarred face, but he had lived. Meeting Halina had been the first step in his recovery from the past. She had been kind, but also stern. It was what he needed. He did not want another mother, even though he was not yet a teen when he had found Halina. He remembered his mother, and he had no desire to replace her. But the female that found him seemed to understand and accept this, but still took him on as her apprentice.

It had taken the brown male some time for him to trust Halina and become close to her. But growing up with her had made a bond between them. She was the only family that he had. But then she too left. But in a different way. Halina had taken Lupin back to her pack with him, but her mate was not happy in the pack. Halina’s mate, Ygritte, had grown up with wolves that had no packs, and were always free and traveling, and she never got used to pack life. Ygritte had tried it for Halina, but she was not as happy as she could be. And so Halina had decided it was time to try being a free wolf for her mate. Which meant leaving Lupin behind. At first he felt abandoned, only being a teen when she had left. But now that he was grown, he understood it a little more. The male had never been in love, or even yet had a crush, so it was hard for him to fully grasp it. But he was no longer hurt the way he was at first.

But staying in the old pack without Halina didn’t feel right, so Lupin found himself alone and wandering once again. But it did not last long until he heard the calling of another alpha, and decided it was time to join another pack. At the beginning he had kept to himself, not seeing other packmates outside of pack meetings. But he found himself growing lonely, and when he caught the scent of a packmate he didn’t turn in the opposite direction as he had often done. And then Lupin made his first friend there, and the pack felt more like home. Even though Wudubearo was now home to him, the varg still liked to go out and explore other areas. And so one night, with a full moon to guide his way, he found himself exploring the mountains. He had never been out this way before, and the trails were foreign to him. Some areas had thicker trees, and it plunged him into darkness when the moon’s light got obscured, but he trusted his paws to guide him. The wind ruffled his brown fur, a bite of cold to it as the fall season began to take the warmth of summer away. It was not long before Lupin realized that he had no idea where he was and he was all turned around. Being lost didn’t worry him though, he knew eventually he would find his way back home.

As lanky limbs stepped through the trees, stepping over branches and rocks as he went, he saw the larger form of a fallen tree. There were dead branches sticking out of it at all angles, and with a leap, the male landed upon it’s bark. He took a moment to gain his balance, walking along the dead tree’s length. He didn’t realize how thin some areas of it were after bugs had gotten to it, making it more fragile. His form stepped down, and then he felt himself falling through the bark. It was not too large of a tree, so he was not high off the ground, but he didn’t realize that there was another varg underneath it, taking shelter under the dead branches. With a yelp, Lupin’s form crashed from on top of the tree back to the ground, branches scratching at him but not causing any real damage. When he realized that he had rudely intruded on another being's resting spot, thankfully not crashing on top of her, he awkwardly took a few steps back. Dirt and twigs stuck to his pelt, and he took a moment to shake it out, some twigs being stubborn and staying lodged in his fur. "S...Sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you." Green orbs sheepishly looked to the female, waiting to see if she would react in anger to what had happened.
