Last night was an abrupt turning point for the Desert and all those that call it home. Tarek's birth was the least of it, and Indira is in the dark about it all. Everything she expected since returning home has turned out differently, and her life is about to take several more unexpected twists. All those years she spent travelling looking for adventure she never would have guessed her first visit back home would prove more adventurous than ever.
The first unexpected twist comes when the next to greet the morning is a startling bay and white figure. Indira had expected the limping gait of Orhan, but Evren's appearance is something entirely different. Indira first regards her sister with an expression of stunned disbelief, but soon it melts to joy.
"Evren!", she shouts, startling Tarek and sending him skittering sideways on unsteady legs. Indira closes the gap between them with a few long, eager strides, and extends her snout in a warm greeting. "I was worried about you. I heard you were in trouble. Are you okay?"
Indira's eyes search Evren's. She can't place it, but something seems amiss. Indira can't begin the predict what transpired, but her stomach turns and her heartbeat quickens, compelled by the troubled air around them.
