The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Fear Makes People Do Terrible Things

Skinny stilts carried the young brute through the trees as a chilly wind swept through the pack. The thick crop of trees in Wudubearo protected the male from the winds chill, but he would soon be out of the packs territory. Recently Milo had asked for the pack to go out and visit the other packs and to see how they were doing with all the recent changes that had taken place. Lupin had not yet done much for the pack he had joined, and he wanted to show the Alphess that he could pull his own weight and be of use to the pack, so he quickly volunteered to help. He was given Graes Waegholm to go and visit, where the alpha was named Siku. Lupin had not been very active when he had been apart of Abendrot, so he had never been a liaison to another pack before. But the only way for him to learn was to jump in and do it. His life in Wudubearo had already been very different than his last pack experience. He had made a friend already, Anastasia, and if he was honest had his first crush. So far he was pleased with the way he had been growing into himself more while in Wudubearo, despite being an adult already before he arrived.

The male was still thinking of his time in the new pack when he passed over the borders, following the line from the mountains towards the pack he would be visiting. As he put distance between himself and Wudubearo, he noticed that there were less trees and more brush and grasslands. He had never been in an area where there was no trees. Lupin had come accustomed to living in the dense forest, both in Abendrot and Wudubearo, and as the trees began to thin more and more, the brute felt exposed. He didn’t feel unsafe exactly, but he knew he was more vulnerable here. These lands were still unknown and new to him, and he was not sure what might be lurking. But he decided not to focus on that and to just quicken his pace a bit to get to Graes Waegholm faster. Luckily the pack was not too far away, and with his quickened pace he should get there within a day. Lupin had always been a night owl, enjoying to be awake when the moon was out rather than the sun, so he had left in the middle of the night from his own pack. At the rate he was going he would arrive the following morning to meet the other pack, after taking a quick nap to refresh himself.

The lanky brute kept his focus on the mountains, his green orbs struggling to focus as mist and fog swirled around him. It had actually been easier to travel at night, when he had other senses to rely on. But in the day, it still had a dark and misty sense to it, and he stumbled a few times on hidden rocks, and he slowed a bit to try and keep a better footing. After some time, the scents of different wolves began to reach his nares. He could tell that he was approaching the pack lands. Lupin made sure to pay attention to where he was, not wanting to accidentally cross into the packs borders. But he caught the strong marked scent of the pack, and he could only assume that this was from Siku. He stopped in his tracks, realizing now that he wasn’t sure what to do now. He knew that he needed to talk to the alpha to discuss the possibility of an alliance, so Lupin lifted his muzzle to the sky, alerting the pack to his presence and calling for Siku. The male grew nervous at the prospect of meeting new wolves, but he reminded himself how well it had gone with Anastasia, so it wasn’t always bad to meet new vargs. Waiting patiently, the brute sat at the borders, eyes and ears on alert to his surroundings.
