We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air.
On the rock restless seas.

He could feel the salty moisture of his sister's tears dampening his coat. The sensation of their closeness, of her hot exhales upon him, of the soft murmurs of her cries, filled a void he'd been living with for so long, albeit only temporarily. It made the sour sickness that stung in his stomach seemingly disappear. It made his general anxiety of feeling lost and alone float away. Tayla filled him with emotion, the kinds like joy and elation and comfort and familiarity, that felt so foreign to him for so long, all at the same time. In this moment, Tayla confirmed that he was right to leave the bachelors behind and return to the place with so many wretched memories. If for no other reason, than to protect and save his sister.

He stared into her eyes as she pulled away, a wide grin spreading across his whiskered maw as she lipped fondly at the fly away strands of his mane. She still had the same gleeful, childish expression on her face that he remembered from when they were merely infants. It was like Talya hadn't changed at all, aside from growing taller.

When she asked about his name, he stood quietly for some time, thinking hard on the topic. He couldn't remember one that Evaline had given him. Did she give her one? It seemed the only fitting answer was the moniker he'd given himself, with the help of the bachelor stallions on the mainland. "Ruxin." He said hoarsely, his tone barely more audible than a whisper. He wanted to ask her a million questions. Was the mean golden mare still around? Did she live with her? Where did she live? Why was she here all alone now? But Ruxin was at a loss of where to start. And he was so fearful of ruining this moment. His dark eyes darted back in forth, as if trying to show Talya he had questions without verbally explaining as such. He flicked his dark red tail across his haunches somewhat out of frustration with his inability to make a decision. "What should we do now?" He managed to blurt out, after much internal fraught.
