The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

I MUST ISOLATE YOU

isolate and save you from yourself

The brute raised an eyebrow as she mimicked his tones, grumbling under his breath. Perhaps it was the circumstances of their lives up until now, but Janus had always felt incredibly protective over his sister, and her sickly nature did not help his worry. He didn't express it in the best way, maybe, but the care was there, all the same. "I can come to you." He said, looking away. They both knew that he wouldn't set paw in Spirane. His memories still swirled, chaotic and brutal, and what he had known and what he knew now were constantly clashing. The mountains were a painful place to be, as his history there wasn't what should have been. He glanced back at her, uncertain.

"I like it here. You'd like it, too, if you'd just..." Janus trailed off, shaking his head. He knew why she couldn't stay, just as much as she knew why he couldn't live with her in Spirane. Here, he could disappear. He remembered meeting others in the caves and he was feared-- it was a good feeling, strangely enough, like he was in control of something. "I guess it doesn't matter, huh?" He shrugged, his expression unreadable. There was a strange sort of aura about him, wound up tight like a spring, energy about to be forcefully unleashed. Sometimes, he felt as though he might just explode.

He'd heard from Cato that their older sister Ceres was an assassin. The brute knew nothing of their parents, and he'd never met their other siblings, but perhaps the idea of liking fear ran in his blood. Janus didn't like the darkness that coiled inside of him like a snake ready to strike. It made him feel dirty and ashamed. Perhaps that was why he hid from the world in the darkness of the grotto. Here... here he could be faceless, without a family or any friends to identify him. In the gloom and the muck of the cave system, he could shiver, without trying to fall back on something to keep him warm. It was a dangerous game of isolation that he was playing, but what other choice did he have?

Janus moved swiftly to stand beside her, offering his shoulder for support though she did not take it. A sigh escaped from his muzzle, and for a moment he waited, making sure that she could rise to her paws without any incident. He looked over her once more, backing up again to face her, his hindquarters to the darkness of the caverns. "All good." He repeated, forcing a smile. "Uh... so, how are Haven and Hollowpoint? Chester and Remi?"
