The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Theirs is an uncoordinated dance, and yet it flowed smoothly between them all the same. Raum lunged toward him with mixed intent, partially seeking to reclaim her memento, and at the same time distracted by her desire to cleanse the silver from his fur. Perhaps it was that division of objectives that allowed him to dodge her lunge so deftly - or perhaps it had been an all too predictable response. Still, a single canine scraped over his nose, eliciting a vocal and bodily response from the male. Rather than retreat, Raum moved her attentions elsewhere, diving towards his hind legs and once more seeking a way to rid him of the silver that tainted that perfect darkness he otherwise encompassed. It was to no avail, though, and when he spun skeptically towards her she faced up to him once more.

It did not take much to convince him to return the ear that was rightfully hers to Raum. Bright green eyes, only made more vibrant due to the black that so completely encompassed them, stared into the face of the silver-tainted brute for a moment longer after he flung the ear back into the air. But her desire to keep her collection whole made her break away. Rather than fully leaping into the air, she pushed up off of her front limbs and rocked forward to stand on her hind limbs momentarily, reaching out to snatch the tattered ear as it began to descend back towards the cavern floor. Her forepaws landed lightly back upon the stone floor and she looked back to the male, pleased with herself and in some respects him as well.

She moved to circle around him as he too began to move, and a single black ear ticked towards him to listen to what he had to say. I have my own ear to play with. They moved almost in a yin-yang formation, some space allowed between them as they now faced nose to tail. She paused at the heap of bones and other assorted bits and pieces of canine corpses, setting the white ear down atop it before tamping it down with her nose so that it would stay put amongst the collection. The obsidian girl then shifted, looking towards the other wolf who walked about her cavern at such ease, before decidedly climbing up onto her pile of treasures and laying down. She sat upright on her sternum, forelegs stretched out so that her paws dangled from the uneven surface she lay upon. True, she felt some...similarity in him that allowed her to feel his presence was permissible, and yet he clearly could not be entirely trusted.

"Am lovely," she echoed his words, agreeing with the statement. "Hmmmmm," a soft whine of consideration, rolling his question and the words that had followed thereafter around in her mouth. "Must hide, sometimes. Some do not like...meals. Hunter, become hunted." Her lifestyle was not an entirely carefree one. Raum had had to deal with her fair share of angry mother's teeth trying to tear the life of a pup back out of her flesh. Though she had not crossed a pack's boundary since leaving Asteraia all those years ago, instinct had kept her away from them. Best not, she thought, to have teeth coming after her that had many more to support them.
