The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

searching in the darkness

She told him that she heard stories, pretty much telling him that one wrong turn and he could end up dead. He swallowed as he remembered just walking right in and blinding following the caverns without a care in the world. Surely that wouldn't happen to him, right? His eyes widened but he brought himself back to what Rurik said about going with the flow and he snorted and shook his head. She had to be teasing him. Besides, he didn't want to let on that she was getting to him. "Yeah, whatever. I bet those stories were made up to keep kids from going into the grotto to begin with." He called out. She didn't say anything when he gave his name but he could make out that her tail was wagging as she went forward.

He followed after her into the darkness, wondering which direction she would take. He thought he could hear her running ahead at first but then it grew eerily quiet and he hesitated, slowing down. Did she stop? Was she waiting on him or was she sneaking now so he wouldn't hear her He scowled thoughtfully as he moved forward, crouching a little lower just in case. Suddenly someone or something slammed into him and he stumbled into the other wall with a yelp of surprise. His tail tucked as he stared around in the darkness with wide eyes, trying to make out anything but all he could see was the darkness. He had heard her voice though. "What'd you go and do that for?" He asked with a slightly shrill voice. Okay, so maybe she was getting to him a bit too much with stories of dying in here. Jumping at him didn't make it any better.

He shook out his coat, sighing before he grinned again in the darkness. "That was pretty sneaky of you. How did you know I was there? Do you have good night vision or something?" He squinted in the darkness but it didn't help. His tail gave a few wags as he waited for her response.
