Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Exploring was a foreign concept to him even though he'd been doing that exact thing for some time now on his own. It wasn't even his realization though. How could it be? He only knew that he was hungry, and that he was alone. Nothing else. His thoughts didn't register the fact that he was on his own with no one to tell him what to do. He was scrawny; a lot more than he should have been. It wasn't a good thing. He was weak. He was cold. The nights were still chilly and he shivered there in the grasses.

It was the sound of a bird that caught his attention and only slightly. He didn't know where it had come from, but he knew that sound. It was in the back of his mind. A bird. He glanced around and that is when the sound of her voice caught him. It scared him half to death because he was not expecting it. He jumped backwards and tumbled over himself before he even realized what was going on. Those eyes of his were wide and bright with panic. Who was she?

It was a female pup and his eyes studied her briefly. They were still almost lifeless but she'd perked his curiosity now. Those eyes took her in warily but he took a step once he'd gathered himself, and then another in her direction. She hadn't really spotted him yet, but he'd caught her there as she stuck her head through a thick clump of grass. "Lost? Yes, I'm lost." Came the soft; troubled response. "I can't find my family. I lost them somewhere and I'm not sure when that was." How long had it really been? He was not sure at all. A while because he was so hungry.

"I haven't seen my parents or siblings in a while. I'm hungry. I'm cold." She reminded him of someone; somehow. Who? Was she a sibling? Had he gotten this lucky? "Are .....are you family?" It wasn't like he knew any better. He didn't remember his parents exactly. He'd been scavenging on what little he could scrounge up. It wasn't enough though; his body showed that well enough. He was scrawny and looked like he could have still been nursing. He was of course, but without a mother to take care of him, well he hadn't done this in a bit.
