Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Despite her best efforts, Magpie had still managed to startle the little pup and he toppled backward even as she approached. The poor thing righted himself and she smiled as he seemed to deem her startling but not a threat. Grateful that she’d been the one to find him out here and even more concerned that he was alone, Mags couldn’t help but giggle as he wiggled out of the log and stared up at her with amber eyes that were far bigger than they had any right to be. Her own tail twitched briefly though it became still when he asked a simple but heartrending question.

The fact that the pup’s mother was not near enough to know that a stranger was close enough to her pup to snatch him was not a good sign. Lifting her head, Mags peered through the woods in all directions and sniffed the air. There were a few lingering scents, including the one that she’d been following. On a hunch, she moved a little closer and sniffed the pup. The scent was stronger on him; Magpie had been following the scent of his mother and it had led away from his hiding spot.

Forcing the smile to remain in place, she lowered herself to the ground in front of the pup to seem far less intimidating and nudged him with her nose. ”When was the last time you saw your mother?” Depending on how long the pup had been alone would reveal the likelihood that she would find the wolf. The thought of this sweet little pup having been abandoned though, that broke her heart. She knew what it was like to be alone and unloved and in that moment she couldn’t stand the thought of another wolf having to endure anything close to what she had; certainly not at such a young age. Either something had happened to the pup’s mother or he’d been abandoned; either way there was no way she could simply walk away. ”I’m Magpie, do you have a name little one?”
