This is no ordinary love

It was strange for Vita Nova to think of her brother in the way that Petal, or Brienne or any other of his mares regarded him. Of course, she was his sister, so the relationship was clearly different. But those that had chosen to live under Shamwari in the Prairie, be it for whatever length of time or for whatever reason, all seemed to see a softer, perhaps more vulnerable side than she knew. Granted, Vita Nova didn't know her brother well. They had only first met when she returned to the islands, and she was living in the Desert by then. This was some time after she lived in the Bay. But the grey spotted mare stared at Petal, watching her as she processed some sort of emotional response to her brother, Vita Nova realized just how selfish she was. She really didn't know him at all. Perhaps it was time to go back to the Prairie, if for no other reason than just to say hello and check in on her brother.

"You know, if you want to go back, I could go with you. Help break the ice and everything." She offers with a sheepish grin.

But before Petal had the chance to respond, the silhouette of another was making its way toward them through the shadows, in the low light of dusk-turned-evening. Vita Nova's head shot up high over her withers, and she blinked in quick succession in an attempt to get a better view of the stranger through the darkness. She could make out the patches of his two-toned coat eventually. But still, she took several steps backward as he approached. She eyed Petal warily.

Her ears laced back against her poll instinctively as he talked. After Koray, Vita Nova wasn't so openly interested in flirting with strangers anymore. Well, not until she knew he wasn't going to hurt them. "Hello." Nova spat back with the flick of her thick and wavy tail. Her nostrils flared as she took in his thick, masculine scent. She caught hints of the pine and evergreen from the Inlet on him. That was, after all, the last terrain Nova had called home. It made sense that another stallion would take it over after Orkaan's disappearance. "Are you thawing out from a chilly spring on Tinuvel?" She asked boldly. Nova was old enough now to know why a handsome, slithering stallion would find his way to two defenseless mares on the Crossing Isle. He was out collecting trinkets. But Nova wasn't so sure she was ready to be someone else's property, again, just yet.
