At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

”I Can Bleed if I Want to Bleed; ”I Can Feel if I Feel the Need

_________________________________________________________________________

Fear and uncertainty only remained in the young pup for a few moments before her rescuer arrived. Missandei hadn’t expected her first adventure away from home to lead to her becoming stuck in the murky bog of a foreign area, but she found her limbs entirely trapped within the mud and mirk of this area. She wasn’t strong enough to pull her limbs free on her own, and orange hued orbs looked left and right to see if anyone was around to help her. Luckily there was another, though young as she, around to help. This stranger provided the extra strength that she lacked to pull free from the soft earth’s trap. The male made sure she was okay before he inspected himself, letting out a curse that made the naïve young femme gasp aloud. She had never heard her parents swear, nevermind another pup! With wide orbs she saw what the male was looking at. His pelt was streaked with brown mud, and her own gaze began to look over herself. She too was covered in the sticky stuff, but her own pelt was brown with some russet and black patches scattered throughout, so it was not terribly obvious. But the mess seemed to bother the male, and Missandei felt bad for being the cause, though the muck on either of them didn’t bother her the slightest. ”I’m sorry I caused you to get so dirty rescuing me.” Her gaze searched to find his own, the thoughts of him being upset with her for any reason too much for her to bear. She wasn’t sure why she felt so strongly about what he thought, but for some reason it was the only thing that was important to her.

Wanting to make the subject a happier one, and not about how she had tainted his pelt with mud, she thanked him and told him what she thought…that he was a hero. There was no other way to describe it. Without him, she could have perished in that mud. She never would have made it out on her own. And then Missandei witnessed the most beautiful thing on this planet, the male breaking out into a charming grin. Seeing him smile like that made her own muzzle pull up in a grin, her thick plume wagging behind her. His vocals rang out once more, telling him how bad her fate could have been. And he was right, she could have died out there without her knight in shining armor to save him. And then he did something that surprised her. The mud streaked male reached forward with a mud stained paw and striped each cheek with the muck. It felt like her skin was tingling exactly where he had touched her, and a girlish giggle escaped her lips when she felt his paw on her and gave her advice. And then, she was graced with his name. Hondo…Hondo Obataiye. It was a unique name, one she had never heard before and felt that she would never hear again.

Hondo went on speaking, asking if she knew where they were. There was no time for Missandei to feel bad about the male wanting to leave, he quickly explained that he didn’t want to, just that they were not equipped to remain out here for long on their own. Her brow furrowed into a frown as she looked around. She had no idea where she had wandered off to, and was not good at tracking yet so wouldn’t be able to follow her own scent back home. ”No, I don’t know where we are…and I can’t hunt or track or anything either. Maybe we could figure something out…together?” The young femme had been looking around, into the swamp ahead of them and the trees behind and around them. But when she said the word “together” her gaze looked back to him, hoping that he meant what he said. That he didn’t want to leave her. The thought of figuring this out on her own…without him…was not something she wanted to deal with. She felt as long as she was with Hondo that everything would be okay. It had to be, right? Paws walking to where Hondo’s form had come from within the trees, she looked back to him, maybe if they tried to follow his more recent trail they would find something to help them? ”We could start here…where you came from.”
