At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Once Upon A DREAM [Riuk]

Dainty ivory paws inch in a forward motion cautiously across what seemed to be, ever changing terrain. Every time the retired queen thought she could comprehend the lay out of Blossom Forest and how it had changed, the land that she stood upon managed to show her just how wrong she was. It was as if the ground beneath her delicate paws knew what she was thinking, and shifted beneath her to confuse the petite lass. Since meeting with Kershov, Stormy Horizion had not.. quite been feeling well, but, had certainly improved drastically since stumbling into his lands and practically bursting into tears at his paws and pissing herself simultaneously. The hand painted thunderstorm sylph had made massive strides during the passing moons, from being the sickly, stuttering girl that lurked within the lands of Uyaraut, trembling at the sight of Kershov’s mighty warriors, and had become.. somewhat... sane almost.

Anxiety still held her heart in it’s vice, and at the most inconvenient moment it would clench her, and leave the thundercloud painted marionette gasping for air and stumbling in a desperate attempt to find her words. It was in those moments, Stormy wanted nothing more than to retreat to her den and revert into a fetal position, shaking and gasping for air until she simply, did not exist anymore. Kershov had challenged her. Kershov, had reminded Stormy, that she was still a queen, even if the trembling wolfess felt like nothing more than a terrified child. It was only because of that, because of the care the king of Uyaraut provided. the guidance and protection he had so unexpectedly and uncharacteristically gifted her, that she was upright, and moving within the lands of Blossom Forest.

And so, the slender danseuse picked her way forward, stark white paws landing softly in the moist dirt, the tiniest of particles clinging to her pristine appendages, hugging tight to ivory fur as she took one quiet step after another. This particular part of Blossom Forest, had once been Staircase Falls. And while that name and the babbling brook that had resided within this stretch of earth were no more, the area was still very much the same, small feeds of water tumbling through the moist earth, the area was boggier now than it had ever been, changed completely, yet still so similar, Stormy Horizion’s heart aches for an earlier time, for an earlier version of herself.

The heart-strong juvenile girl who had commanded a pack, with all of the confidence of a well seasoned warrior. The confident cocky maiden, who dared to claim a land that was not hers, and mold it into her heart’s desire. The heartsick adolescent who pined away for a gladiator who had never come back for her. She would rather be any of the things that she had been, than what existed as currently. Alone, and afraid. Not of what might be lurking around the corner, but afraid of what Stormy had done to her life. Afraid of how she had closed herself off after Riuk left, afraid of how she had opened it to Aindreas only to watch her tattered heart crumble. Afraid to let any more people in. Any more people close. It were those sorts of self pity thoughts that she had absorbed herself in, when a familiar scent caught her nares, and Stormy Horizion almost cried out aloud.

Surely, he was not here, surely her mind had played a cruel trick on herself and Stormy Horizion did not actually recognize Riuk’s scent after all this time. Surely, he was not here, in this place that meant so much to her after all this time. It was in the old Falls that the king had made her a promise, one he eventually broke. Stormy had collapsed in on herself when he left the final time, her mind blamed her and her body hated itself. And yet she had trudged on, scraping and fighting her way thought this life, waiting, hoping, for this very second to arrive. Stormy surged forward with a newfound purpose, It did not matter that she did not know the lands she was in, for she knew her destination. Sliding to a stop as Riuk enters her view, the girl is breathless.

Nervousness grasps her right paw. Stormy had been waiting for Riuk her entire life it seemed. Always waiting, for him to notice her, for him to want her, for him to keep her. Those things had not happened, and so she had waited for him to come back to her. And here he was. Her heart thunders in her breast, as her mind screams white noise into her ears. What.. What did she do? What did she say? If she tried to speak, would her voice betray her? Blood rushing through her veins, Stormy steps forward quietly, drawing nearer, hoping that he saw her, praying that he didn’t. Finally, heart caught in her throat, stomach knotted so tightly she may never eat again, the girl draws in a breath and prays to tor for the strength to speak.

“Riuk?”

Her voice trembles, afraid. Afraid he wont know her, terrified that he will. After all this time, what will they even have to say to each other? How will they even communicate with eachother? With so much history in the way, and so much longing in her bones, how could she resist throwing herself into him, how could she stand here and talk to him like a perfect stranger? And yet, isnt that what he was? Stormy was not the same brave girl she had once been, and Riuk was not a graceful king granting her safe passage any longer. The had grown, they had changed, matured. So why does this moment feel so right? When it is in fact, so very wrong.
