He could tell the younger male was very observant and also a little on edge, but he tried not to think on it too hard. Maybe he had a bad upbringing or was beat a lot as a kid or something. Maybe that's why he was still talking to him, some reminer of Boneskull's less than stellar upbringing or something. That kid would surely have starved to death if not for Cuirass. He still though he deserved a medal or something for that but no one seemed to be in a hurry to get him one so oh well. He would just continue to light up the world, one smartass comment at a time. At least the boy liked to stay on his toes. Cuirass liked that. He seemed to want to study Cuirass, his eyes probing each time they looked his way. The thought alone could made him laugh. Good luck with that one. The younger male nodded in response. Apparently he was a man of few words. Interesting to know. At least he wasn't outright ignoring Cuirass though. That meant something. It had to. The boy apparently wanted to be a hunter. Who better to teach him?
Cuirass was hunting other wolves as a yearling and he even sparred with a mountain lion under the watchful eye of the Monster herself. He learned quickly about adapting to one's surroundings and the opponent on hand so he could use those skills against any kind of prey. Piece of cake. As long as the other male was willing to work for it, Cuirass would give him the time of day to teach it. He'd done a pretty good job with Boneskull, if he did say so himself. The male followed along obediantly as Cuirass led him to a tree better suited for beginners, just as he'd done with Belhara back in Iromar. He went over the basics, making sure the wolf was listening but it seemed like he was soaking everything in like a sponge. Good boy. Then Cuirass launched himself at the tree and was soon lounging in its branches, watching the boy from his new perch to see if he was going to give it a try.
The male was so intense. It was enough to make Cuirass' lips curl up in a little smirk to see him so concentrated on the task at hand. There was nothing wrong with ambition. He'd had it himself when he was younger and look where he was now. He was proving he still had that strong survival instinct and next he was going to have a family to provide for as well. He was actually giddy at the prospect of children with Bel. Surely she would love motherhood. Who doesn't? Besides his own mother of course, but she was a strange one to begin with. Shaking the thoughts from his mind, he watched the male launch himself forward, noting the hungry strides he took to the tree. The other male jumped closer to the trunk but it was like he was taking size into account instead of just trying to do everything exactly the same way as Cuirass had. Good. He had common sense after all.
Cuirass could work with this. The boy scrabbled up the tree and soon enough he was pulling himself up and onto the same branch Cuirass was stretch out on. He tilted his head, watching as the male scrambled and splayed himself out on the branch, his legs wrapped around it like a python going for the kill. He couldn't help but chuckle as he stood and walked closer to the male before sitting down right in front of him, forcing him to look up. "Find your balance. Don't think of it as being up high in a tree where you could fall. Think of it as a log on the ground. Surely you can walk across a log with no issue so why should this be any different? It's all about perception. See yourself standing on the branch then just do it."
